Emily is one of the most distinctive villagers in Stardew Valley. She lives with her sister Haley at 2 Willow Lane, works at the Stardrop Saloon, and spends much of her free time exploring her interests in clothing, crystals, spirituality, and creativity.
She is also one of the more convenient marriage candidates to befriend because many of her favorite gifts are easy to obtain from the Mines. Building your relationship with Emily unlocks recipes, heart events, access to tailoring, and eventually the chance to marry her and bring her unique personality (and her parrot) into your farmhouse.

Emily’s Daily Schedule
Emily’s location changes depending on the day, weather, festivals, and certain progression milestones.
Regular Schedule
On a normal day, Emily begins in her bedroom at 9:00 AM. At noon, she moves into the living room before leaving home around 3:30 PM for work at the Stardrop Saloon. She stays at the Saloon until 12:30 AM, making the evening one of the easiest times to find her consistently.
- Tuesday: Tuesday is different because Emily attends the aerobics class at Pierre’s General Store. She leaves home at 10:00 AM, the class begins at 1:00 PM, and she goes directly from Pierre’s to the Stardrop Saloon at 4:00 PM.
- Friday After Restoring the Community Center: On Fridays, Emily visits the Crafts Room in the Community Center. She leaves home at 10:00 AM, remains there until 3:30 PM, and then heads to the Saloon for work.
- Rainy Days: Rain changes her normal routine. Emily stays in her bedroom until noon, moves into the living room, and then heads to the Stardrop Saloon at 3:30 PM.
- Desert Festival: During the Desert Festival on Spring 15–17, Emily travels to the Calico Desert to run her Outfit Services. When she is attending the festival as a vendor, she spends the day at her booth before returning to the Valley around midnight.

How to Unlock Emily’s Sewing Machine
The tailoring system is one of the biggest practical reasons to become friends with Emily. You only need to obtain Cloth to trigger the first Sewing Machine event. After acquiring Cloth, leave your Farmhouse between 6:00 AM and 11:00 AM on a non-rainy day. Emily will explain how her sewing machine works, and you will gain access to the machine and the nearby dye pots at her home. Cloth can be obtained in several ways, including processing Wool in a Loom.
Getting Your Own Sewing Machine
Emily can eventually give you a personal Sewing Machine through the Rock Rejuvenation Special Order. The quest asks for:
- 1 Amethyst
- 1 Emerald
- 1 Jade
- 1 Ruby
- 1 Topaz
Completing it rewards 1,000g, 250 Friendship Points with Emily, and a Sewing Machine. The machine functions like the one in Emily’s house and can be placed on your farm. This makes Rock Rejuvenation one of the most useful Special Orders to complete if you enjoy customizing clothing.
Emily’s Desert Festival Outfit Services
The Desert Festival is another reason to visit Emily beyond friendship and tailoring. The festival takes place in the Calico Desert from Spring 15 through Spring 17, and Emily offers a daily makeover through her Outfit Services booth.
How Outfit Services Works
Emily offers the service once per festival day. Enter her changing booth, and she will select an outfit based on her interpretation of your character’s style. The makeover gives you a randomly selected outfit consisting of a shirt, pants, and sometimes a hat. Your original clothing is returned to your inventory, while the new outfit is equipped.
The service is very interesting for collectors because there are 61 possible makeover outfits, divided into gender-neutral and gender-specific selections. Some of the outfits include clothing pieces that can otherwise be considerably more difficult to acquire.

Emily’s Heart Events
Emily has several memorable heart events, and most do not involve difficult dialogue decisions.
2-Heart Event
- Trigger: Enter Emily’s house while she is there.
You find Emily asleep in her room, leading into a surreal dream sequence filled with unusual colors, shapes, clouds, and spiritual imagery. The event gives a glimpse into her personality and her fascination with dreams and energy.
4-Heart Event
- Trigger: Enter Pelican Town on a sunny day. The event cannot occur during Winter.
Emily encounters several parrots, one of which crashes into her window and becomes injured. She takes the bird in and decides to care for it. After this event, the rescued parrot becomes part of her room. If you later marry Emily, the parrot moves to your farmhouse as well.
6-Heart Event
- Trigger: Enter Emily’s house while she is there.
Emily reveals a secret hobby she has been practicing and performs a dance for you in her room. At the end, you can respond to her performance:
| RESPONSE | FRIENDSHIP |
| “That was amazing!” | +25 |
| “That was embarrassing…” | -50 |
| Say nothing and slow clap | +25 |
7-Heart Reward
Once you reach 7 hearts, Emily sends you a recipe in the mail for Red Plate. This is a relationship reward rather than a conventional cutscene, but it is still worth checking your mailbox after reaching the required friendship level.
8-Heart Event
- Trigger: Emily sends you an invitation by mail.
The invitation asks you to visit the Mayor’s Manor, where Emily hosts her unusual Clothing Therapy session. The event involves several townspeople experimenting with new outfits as Emily encourages them to express themselves through clothing. It also continues the subplot involving Clint’s feelings for Emily. You need to complete the 6-heart event before this event can occur.
Emily’s 10-Heart Event
After reaching 10 hearts while dating Emily, you receive a letter inviting you to the Secret Woods after 10:00 PM. The event involves an overnight camping trip. A bear approaches the campsite, causing Emily and the player to retreat into the tent together, ending the day. There are no dialogue choices during the event that change your friendship score.
Emily’s 14-Heart Event
- Trigger: Exit the farmhouse between 6:00 AM and 8:20 AM. Becomes available only after marriage.
Emily asks you to gather 200 Fiber for a special project. After completing the request, wait three days and then enter the farmhouse between 8:00 PM and midnight. Emily rewards you with a unique outfit consisting of:
- Emily’s Magic Hat
- Emily’s Magic Shirt
- Emily’s Magic Boots
- Blue Genie Pants
The hat and boots have their own defensive and immunity bonuses, while the full outfit is a unique cosmetic reward tied specifically to Emily’s marriage event.

Marrying Emily
Emily becomes a marriage candidate once you have built your relationship to the appropriate level and begun dating her. At 10 hearts, give her a Mermaid’s Pendant on a rainy day to propose. After the wedding, she moves into the farmhouse and adds a personal room to the right of the bedroom.
She also creates a small crystal garden behind the farmhouse, where she occasionally meditates. Her rescued parrot also moves into the farmhouse after marriage, provided you have seen the relevant earlier heart event.
Gifts From Emily After Marriage
Emily can leave useful items for you on certain mornings and evenings. Possible gifts include Cloth, Wool, Duck Feather, Refined Quartz, Bean Hotpot, Coffee, and Omni Geodes. On some days she can also provide desserts such as Rice Pudding, Blueberry Tart, Cookies, or Chocolate Cake. This makes maintaining a good relationship with Emily worthwhile even after marriage, especially for players who regularly use Cloth or Refined Quartz.

The easiest route to high friendship with Emily is straightforward: save a few gems from the Mines, give her loved gifts consistently, and make Spring 27 a priority for a major friendship boost. Once Cloth becomes available, her relationship becomes even more useful because it opens the door to tailoring and dyeing. Whether you are pursuing Emily as a friend, a spouse, or simply want access to everything her character offers, her rewards extend well beyond the usual heart-event scenes.
