Arknights Tier List (2026): Best Operators Ranked

The Arknights meta continues to evolve as new Operators, Modules, events, and challenging game modes expand the roster. A strong team is rarely about filling every slot with the highest-rarity unit; the best squads combine reliable damage, defensive tools, DP generation, crowd control, and support.

This Arknights tier list ranks Operators by their overall usefulness across story stages, difficult event content, Contingency Contract, Integrated Strategies, and other challenging modes. The rankings are intended to help you decide which Operators deserve your limited promotion, Module, and upgrade resources.

Arknights Tier Rankings Explained

  • S Tier: Exceptional Operators with outstanding performance, versatility, or unique mechanics. These are among the best long-term investments in their classes.
  • A Tier: Strong Operators that remain excellent choices for difficult content and can anchor many teams.
  • B Tier: Useful and often powerful Operators that become more dependent on team composition, map conditions, or specific mechanics.
  • C Tier: More specialized or generally outclassed options. They can still clear content, but they are usually lower-priority investments.

A tier does not mean an Operator is universally better than every unit below them. Arknights is heavily influenced by stage design, enemy composition, deployment limits, and the role each Operator needs to fulfill.

Defenders Tier List

Defenders are responsible for blocking enemies, protecting fragile Operators, and holding important lanes. The strongest modern Defenders often do much more than simply absorb damage.

Defender Meta

  • Shu sits at the top because she combines frontline durability with healing and team utility, allowing one deployment to cover several defensive jobs.
  • Saria remains a versatile alternative, especially when a team needs both healing and a durable blocker.

How to Choose Operators for Your Account

  1. Prioritize Flexible Operators: Operators that perform several jobs generally provide the greatest account value. A strong Defender that also heals, a Vanguard that remains useful after the opening, or a Medic that contributes meaningful damage can save deployment slots and simplify difficult stages.
  2. Don’t Ignore Your 3-Star and 4-Star Roster: Low-rarity Operators remain important, especially in Integrated Strategies and modes with restricted deployment options. They are cheap to promote, inexpensive to deploy, and can provide exactly the utility a team is missing.
  3. Consider Modules Before Investing: Modern Arknights power is not determined by Elite 2 promotion alone. Modules can significantly alter an Operator’s performance or expand their usefulness in a specific mode. Before spending large amounts of LMD and materials, check whether an Operator’s Module meaningfully improves the role you want them to fill.

Building a Balanced Arknights Squad

A new account usually benefits more from a balanced core than from collecting several damage specialists. A practical foundation includes one DP generator, one dependable Defender, one strong ranged damage dealer, one flexible melee carry, one Medic, and one support or Specialist.

For example, Ines or Myrtle can handle the opening economy, Shu or Saria can anchor the frontline, Wiš’adel or Logos can provide ranged damage, and Degenbrecher or Młynar can cover major melee threats. Fill the remaining slots according to the stage rather than forcing every team into the same template.

The current Arknights meta continues to favor Operators capable of delivering exceptional value without requiring overly narrow conditions. For most Doctors, the best approach is not to chase every new Operator. Build a balanced roster, prioritize units that perform multiple jobs, invest in appropriate Modules, and expand into specialized teams as new challenges demand them. A strong account is defined by how many problems its roster can solve, not simply by how many S-tier Operators it owns.
