Building the right roster in Roblox – Universal Tower Defense Z can make a huge difference once you move beyond the easiest Story stages. Infinite Mode, Raids, Challenges, and other late-game content demand much more than a unit with high base damage. Scaling, range, utility, traits, and team synergy all become increasingly important.
This Universal Tower Defense Z tier list ranks the strongest units currently worth building, from top-tier carries and scaling specialists to useful mid-game options and units that are better treated as temporary placeholders.
Universal Tower Defense Z Tier Rankings Explained
The tiers in this list are based on overall usefulness rather than raw damage alone.
- S+ Tier: Exceptional units that can define a team and remain highly effective in difficult late-game content.
- S Tier: Powerful endgame choices that perform extremely well across multiple modes.
- A Tier: Strong and dependable units that are useful during progression or in specific team compositions.
- B Tier: Serviceable units that can carry early content but are increasingly outclassed later.
S+ Tier – Best Units in the Current Meta
These are the units you should prioritize when building an endgame roster. They either provide exceptional scaling, enormous damage, or utility that significantly improves the performance of the rest of your team.
| UNIT | ROLE |
| Jinoo (Shadow Monarch) | Summoner / Main DPS |
| Joyful Captain | Hybrid AoE DPS |
| The Strongest in History | Boss Killer |
| The Strongest of Today | Frontline DPS |
| King Sailor (Unrivaled) | All-Round Carry |
| Ancient Mage (Sage) | Support / Control |
Jinoo (Shadow Monarch)
Jinoo is one of the clearest examples of a unit designed around long-term scaling. His evolved Shadow Monarch form introduces a Mana-based system and the ability to summon autonomous Shadow units. Because his power can continue growing as a stage develops, he is very valuable in Infinite Mode, where a unit’s long-term scaling matters just as much as its starting statistics.
Joyful Captain
Joyful Captain is one of the most flexible high-end damage dealers because of his Hybrid placement. His area damage lets him handle groups effectively, while his range and scaling allow him to remain useful as enemy health begins to rise. Being able to fit into different map layouts also gives him an advantage over powerful units that are restricted to a single placement type.

The Strongest in History
This unit is built around one job: destroying priority targets. Rather than competing primarily with large-area wave clearers, The Strongest in History excels when the stage throws a boss or other extremely durable enemy at your team. That makes the unit especially valuable in Raid-oriented compositions.
The Strongest of Today
The Strongest of Today provides a more generalized form of damage. Its strong area output gives it considerably more value in stages containing repeated groups of enemies rather than a single boss. It works very well when paired with support units that improve attack speed, damage, or other offensive statistics.
King Sailor (Unrivaled)
King Sailor is a classic all-purpose carry. Rather than being tied to one narrow mechanic, the unit brings the kind of raw performance that allows it to slot into many different compositions. This makes it useful for players who have not yet assembled a specialized roster for every mode.
Ancient Mage (Sage)
Not every S+ unit needs to be a damage dealer. Ancient Mage (Sage) earns its place through utility, helping the rest of your roster deal with enemies through crowd control and offensive amplification.
S Tier – Powerful Endgame Alternatives
S-Tier units are slightly less universally dominant than the picks above, but they can still form the foundation of excellent teams.
| CATEGORY | UNITS |
| Damage Carries | Gluttonous Warlord (Despair), Alpha Devil (Omega), Dragon Guy (Silverite), Mimicry Sorcerer (Cursed Love) |
| Support / Utility | Love Goddess, Virtual Idol (Super Star), Marine Hero (Grand Fist) |
- Gluttonous Warlord (Despair): A strong offensive option for players who need a dependable late-game damage dealer. Its value increases substantially when supported by buffs that improve its offensive output.
- Alpha Devil (Omega): Alpha Devil provides high-end damage suitable for difficult stages where enemies have enough health to survive repeated waves of ordinary attacks.
- Dragon Guy (Silverite): Dragon Guy combines offensive performance with useful control potential, giving him more flexibility than a pure damage-focused unit.
- Mimicry Sorcerer (Cursed Love): This unit fits well into compositions that already have strong frontline damage but need another source of sustained ranged pressure.
- Love Goddess: Love Goddess is a prime example of why supports deserve a place in endgame teams. Rather than replacing your primary carry, she makes that carry stronger.
- Virtual Idol (Super Star): Virtual Idol is another high-value support option, especially for compositions built around attack speed and sustained damage.
- Marine Hero (Grand Fist): Marine Hero offers another way to round out an advanced team, making the unit a useful alternative when your existing roster already covers your primary damage requirements.

A Tier – Strong Mid-Game and Specialized Units
A-Tier units remain useful for progression and can continue seeing play in particular compositions even after stronger units enter your roster:
- Prodigy Mage (Apprentice)
- Sharpshooter King (Trapper)
- Crow Shinobi (Reanimated)
- Sasku (Great War)
- Rule (ROOM)
- Underworld God
- Enlightened God (Holy)
- Mochi Pirate (Conqueror)
These units are very valuable when you need to fill a specific damage type, placement category, or utility role. The most notable ones are:
- Rule (ROOM): Rule can be a very strong option for teams that need another high-output ground unit. It is especially useful when your composition has sufficient support and needs to increase direct battlefield damage.
- Sasku (Great War): Sasku provides useful offensive pressure and can function as a flexible damage contributor in a wide variety of teams.
- Mochi Pirate (Conqueror): Mochi Pirate is a solid progression unit for players who have not yet assembled a complete late-game roster. It can contribute meaningful damage while remaining easier to integrate than highly specialized alternatives.

B Tier – Useful While Progressing
B-Tier units are not necessarily bad. Many can help clear early Story stages and initial Infinite waves, especially when they are easier to obtain than higher-ranked alternatives. B-Tier units are:
- The Drink (Survivor)
- Psycho (100%)
- Koyote (Number One)
- Super Roku (Enraged)
- Ultiorra (Oblivion)
- Shunks (Conqueror)
- Cyborg (Fearless).
The main issue with them is scalability. Once enemy health and durability increase, these units usually struggle to keep pace with the strongest evolved carries. They are worth using when they fill a missing role, but they should generally not be your first long-term investment once stronger alternatives are available.

The Universal Tower Defense Z meta is built around units that can scale, support the rest of the roster, or provide specialized damage against difficult enemies. Use our tier list as a starting point, then build around your actual mode, map requirements, traits, and available upgrades. A well-synergized team of slightly lower-ranked units will often outperform a collection of powerful units that do not complement one another.
