GTA 6 Protagonists: Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos

GTA V split its story across three men, but GTA 6 builds everything around one couple. Jason and Lucia’s story draws on the Bonnie and Clyde template, with romance and crime sharing the driver’s seat. A simple job goes wrong early, and the fallout drags them into a conspiracy stretching across Leonida. From that point, they need each other just to survive.

Jason Duval: The GTA 6 Lead Who Just Wants an Easy Life

Jason grew up around grifters and small-time crooks, so he joined the Army to escape that life. It didn’t stick. He ended up in the Leonida Keys, working for local drug runners because it’s the one trade he knows.

Brian Heder lets him live rent-free at one of his properties, as long as Jason handles local shakedowns. He also drops by for Lori’s sangria now and then, easily the best part of that deal.

Jason wants a quiet life, but every week seems to make that harder. Lucia could turn out to be his ticket out or the reason everything burns down. Off the clock, official screenshots show him fishing and shooting pool with his buddy Cal. His signature sidearm is the Girardi ES9 pistol, and the Ultimate Edition adds an engraved version.

Lucia Caminos: GTA 6’s Fighter Fresh Out of Prison

Lucia learned to throw punches almost as soon as she learned to walk, thanks to her father. Life has hit back just as hard ever since. Standing up for her family put her behind bars in the Leonida Penitentiary, and pure luck got her out.

Now she’s done with impulsive moves. Her mother has dreamed of a better life since their Liberty City days, and Lucia plans to deliver it herself. That detail roots her family in the same Liberty City that GTA IV players know.

She’s the series’ first female protagonist since its top-down days. Trailer 2 even shows her trading blows inside a fight cage. Her signature pistol is the Klose K17, which also gets an engraved Ultimate Edition variant.

How Character Switching Works in GTA 6

Switching protagonists returns from GTA V, but this time it serves a couple instead of three strangers. Here’s what we know so far:

  • Duo or solo: You can roam Leonida with both leads together, or split them up and cause trouble separately.
  • Seat swaps: Jason can drive while Lucia scrolls her phone in the passenger seat, and you can jump between them. That makes switching part of the action, not just a menu shortcut.
  • Relationship stakes: Your choices can affect how Jason and Lucia’s relationship plays out. The impact runs deeper than the honor systems from Rockstar’s earlier games, though full details are still TBA.
  • Bodies that change: Food affects their weight, workouts build visible muscle, and long stretches without sleep take a visible toll.
  • Personal style: Clothing, hairstyles, tattoos, and makeup let you shape each lead’s look without erasing their personalities.

Jason’s Circle in the Keys: Brian, Lori, and Cal

Jason’s corner of GTA 6 sits in the Leonida Keys, and three people define it.

Brian Heder

Brian is an old-school drug runner who came up during the Keys’ smuggling heyday. These days, he runs his boat yard with his third wife, Lori, and product still flows through it. He has earned the right to let younger hands, like Jason’s, do the dirty work.

He looks like a harmless beach bum, but he’s far sharper and more dangerous than he looks. Actor Stephen Root confirmed in September 2026 that he voices Brian, the only GTA 6 performer to do so publicly.

Lori Heder

Lori is Brian’s third wife and his partner at the boat yard. She isn’t just there to pour sangria, either. Official screenshots show her comfortable with both a rifle and a pistol, which hints she can hold her own.

Cal Hampton

Cal is Jason’s friend and another of Brian’s associates. His perfect evening is beer, eavesdropping on Coast Guard radio, and browser tabs he’d rather keep private. He’s comfortable near the bottom of American life, and his conspiracy theories need an audience.

His official tagline sums him up: “What if everything on the internet was true?” Cal also closes the Extended Look with a laid-back monologue, so he’s clearly more than background comic relief. Jason, meanwhile, has bigger ambitions than drinking on Cal’s couch.

The Only Raw Records Crew: Boobie, Dre’Quan, and Real Dimez

Over in Vice City, GTA 6’s music scene revolves around one struggling label and the people betting on it.

Boobie Ike

Boobie is a Vice City legend, and he carries himself like one. He’s one of the rare street veterans who went legit, at least on paper. His portfolio now covers property, a strip club, and a recording studio.

He’s friendly right up until money comes up. His biggest bet is Only Raw Records, his partnership with Dre’Quan, and the label badly needs a hit. The Extended Look opens with Jason and Lucia collecting a shipment for Boobie. Expect him to be a regular source of work.

Dre’Quan Priest

Dre’Quan sold on the street to pay bills, but music was always the endgame. With Real Dimez signed, Dre’Quan wants out of club bookings and into the wider Vice City scene. His label’s future now rides on whether that bet pays off.

Real Dimez (Bae-Luxe and Roxy)

Bae-Luxe and Roxy go back to high school, and they’ve always known how to turn trouble into money. Shaking down local dealers funded their rap tracks, which they pushed hard across social media.

An early single with local rapper DWNPLY blew up, then five rough years followed. Now they’re signed to Only Raw Records and chasing a second hit. If GTA 6 skewers influencer culture, this duo will probably sit at the center of it.

Raul Bautista: GTA 6’s Heist Veteran

Raul is a career bank robber with the charm to recruit and the nerve to aim high. He’s constantly looking for fresh crew members who’ll gamble everything on a bigger score.

The problem is that each score he plans gets riskier than the last. At some point, anyone working with him must decide whether to double down or cash out. He appears on the GTA 6 cover art and in the Extended Look’s heist footage, so he’s a major player.

New GTA 6 Characters From the Extended Look

The Extended Look premiered on August 27, 2026, and it introduced a second wave of named characters. Most of them appear in two set pieces: a drug pickup gone wrong and a corporate party.

Character Who They Are Where They Appear
Raymond Runs the drug operation Jason and Lucia visit for Boobie Opening pickup
Ernesto Raymond’s absent business partner who phones in a warning Opening pickup
Méndez VCPD officer leading a brutal task force raid Opening raid
Valentina Coordinator who hires the couple as private security Megamundo HQ opening
Andrés de León Wealthy Megamundo associate the duo must protect Megamundo HQ opening
Petra Navarro Megamundo’s chief operating officer Megamundo HQ opening

The Pickup and the Raid

Jason and Lucia arrive at Raymond’s spot to collect product for Boobie, and the deal unravels fast. Ernesto calls with a warning that a task force is coming, and Méndez’s VCPD squad storms in moments later. His team shoots first and keeps shooting, even at people trying to surrender. Jason and Lucia also seem keen to stay out of his sight, which hints at history between them.

Valentina and the Megamundo Job

The finale has Jason and Lucia working private security for Andrés de León at Megamundo’s US headquarters opening. Valentina hires them for the gig and introduces them to Petra Navarro before an armed robbery wrecks the party.

Valentina is also the first returning face fans have spotted, carried over from GTA Online’s 2025 Money Fronts update. That link suggests GTA Online and the new story share more DNA than many players expected.

Minor GTA 6 Characters Worth Knowing

  • Stefanie: Hers is the first voice in Trailer 1, as a corrections social worker interviewing Lucia in prison. Her role after Lucia’s release is TBA.
  • Phil: He stars in an Ammu-Nation commercial in Trailer 2. He reads like a younger, HD-universe take on Phil Cassidy, not the same man from older games.
  • Wyman: This eccentric collector and local fixer runs the Classic Car Collection, an Ultimate Edition commission. You track down abandoned classics and unfinished project cars, then bring them back to life.
  • DWNPLY: This local rapper gave Real Dimez their first hit, though his own role in the story is TBA.

Final Thoughts

Jason and Lucia carry GTA 6, but the supporting cast tells you what kind of crime story this is. Brian, Lori, and Cal anchor Jason’s life in the Keys. Boobie, Dre’Quan, and Real Dimez bring Vice City’s music hustle. Raul supplies the heists, while Méndez and the Extended Look’s new faces add the pressure.

Our takeaway from this GTA 6 characters guide is simple. Almost every supporting character either offers the couple money or threatens to take everything away.
