GTA 6 will arrive on November 19, 2026, with Jason and Lucia ready to take players back to Vice City. Rockstar has now opened preorders, confirmed two editions, and shared a longer look at the game, so several major launch questions finally have clear answers.
Even with those announcements, there is still plenty for players to learn before launch. Here is what Rockstar has confirmed so far, along with the biggest details that remain unanswered.
GTA 6 Release Date and Confirmed Platforms
The official GTA 6 website lists November 19, 2026, as the release date. The game will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Rockstar has announced no versions for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch 2, or PC. This means PC players still need to wait for a separate platform announcement rather than plan around an unofficial date.

The PlayStation Store also marks GTA 6 as PS5 Pro Enhanced. Rockstar has yet to confirm the available resolution and frame-rate modes, so claims about a fixed 30fps limit remain unofficial.
How Much Will GTA 6 Cost?
GTA 6 has a higher starting price than many current console games. Rockstar is selling a Standard Edition and an Ultimate Edition, with a separate upgrade available if you change your mind later.

The Standard Edition contains the complete game. The Ultimate Edition adds single-player content such as extra vehicles, weapons, character styles, businesses, and properties. Some of its bonuses include the 1995 Grotti Cheetah, Hawk & Little Morgan revolvers, vehicles for Jason’s safehouse, and the PTT Youngin$ Compound.
Preorders also include the Vintage Vice City Pack. This pack comes with the 1955 Vapid Stanier Sedan and Garage, additional styles, and an exclusive weapon pattern. Digital preorders include one free month of GTA+, which will renew as a paid subscription unless cancelled.
Digital preloading begins at local midnight on November 12. According to Rockstar’s preorder support page, the boxed version will also become available on that date and will contain a download code instead of a game disc.
What Is the GTA 6 File Size?
Rockstar has not announced the GTA 6 download size. Neither the PlayStation Store nor the Xbox Store currently displays a storage requirement.
Numbers such as 150GB, 200GB, and 300GB have appeared online, but none comes from Rockstar. The boxed version will still require a full download because it contains a code, so buying it will not reduce the amount of storage needed.
A reliable figure should appear once preloading starts on November 12. Until then, it is best to treat every precise size claim as an estimate.
What to Expect From GTA 6
GTA 6 takes place across Leonida, Rockstar’s version of Florida. Vice City returns as its main urban centre, while the wider map also includes the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga National Park.
The story follows Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. After an easy score goes wrong, the pair become caught in a wider criminal conspiracy and have to rely on each other. Their backgrounds also shape the story. Jason previously served in the Army and later worked for drug runners, while Lucia enters the game after serving time in Leonida Penitentiary.
Rockstar’s extended gameplay presentation shows the pair during robberies, police pursuits, gunfights, and quieter moments around Leonida. It also shows boats, nightlife, crowded public spaces, kayaking, exercise activities, and social-media-style videos that reflect the culture around Vice City.
The 26-minute video was captured entirely in-game on PS5 and offers the clearest look at GTA 6 before release:
PS5 features include DualSense haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, controller-speaker support, Tempest 3D Audio, and faster loading through the console’s SSD. Xbox-specific technical features and the final performance modes have yet to be detailed.
Music will also remain a major part of the experience. Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album launches alongside the game with 34 original tracks, while Rockstar plans to share more about its dynamic score and updated in-game radio closer to release.
When Will GTA 6 Online Be Released?
Rockstar has not announced a GTA 6 Online release date. It has also shared no official name, pricing model, features, or rollout plan for a new multiplayer experience.
The current PlayStation and Xbox listings describe GTA 6 as a single-player experience. For that reason, there is no confirmation that a new online mode will arrive on November 19 or during the weeks after launch.
The name “GTA Online 2” is also unofficial. Rockstar continues to update the existing GTA Online, which remains separate from the announced GTA 6 story experience.
The free month of GTA+ included with digital preorders does not confirm multiplayer support for GTA 6. GTA+ currently serves the existing GTA Online, so players should wait for a direct Rockstar announcement before connecting that subscription offer to a future mode.
