Inspired by One Piece, Legacy Piece puts you in control of a pirate navigating a huge open world filled with islands, quests, bosses, fighting styles, weapons, and Devil Fruits. The game gives you plenty of freedom from the moment you start, but that also means it can be easy to waste time or miss important mechanics. This beginner guide explains the controls, races, progression systems, early-game priorities, travel tools, and Devil Fruits you should understand before heading too far into the Grand Line.
1. Key Controls & Essential Movement
Learning the controls before getting into serious fights makes exploration and combat much easier. Several inputs work differently from what you may expect from other Roblox games, so memorize these early.
| KEY | ACTION | TIP |
| Double-Tap W | Run / Sprint | Sprinting is activated by tapping W twice, holding Shift does not make your character run. |
| Q | Dash | Each dash uses 10 Stamina and is useful for closing gaps or avoiding boss attacks without dropping carried objects. |
| Shift | Cam Lock | Locks the camera behind your character, making it easier to keep attacks aligned with enemies. |
| M | Game Menu | Opens your stats, character customization, inventory, shop, and code redemption options. |
| E | Interact | Hold E near an island’s Spawn Crystal to register that location as your respawn point. |
| H / B | Grip / Carry | Use H on downed enemies and B to pick up or transport objects and NPCs. |
| F | Block | Protects you from basic attacks, although powerful boss combinations can break your guard and leave you stunned. |
2. Character Customization & Race Tier List
Your race is one of the first meaningful choices you can make in Legacy Piece. Each option comes with passive bonuses that favor a particular style of play, so your starting race can influence how you approach combat and exploration.
- Oni — S-Tier / Heavy Hitter: Oni provides the largest Health increase among the available races and enhances melee-oriented damage. Its durability and close-range power make it especially well-suited to boss farming and players who prefer a tougher PvP setup.
- Mink — A-Tier / High Mobility: Mink focuses on movement and stamina. It gives you a larger Stamina pool and improved movement speed, while also allowing access to the Electro Fighting Style without an additional Beli cost.
- Fishman — A-Tier / Water Specialist: Fishman improves Fist-based damage and is particularly effective when spending time underwater. The race also offers faster underwater movement and a much longer breathing duration.
- Human — B-Tier / Fast Progression: Human sacrifices some combat specialization in exchange for faster progression. Its passive EXP and Mastery EXP bonuses can be very useful when your main goal is leveling quickly during the early game.
- Skypiean — C-Tier: Skypiean improves jump height and provides additional Stamina. Those bonuses make vertical exploration easier, but it offers less direct combat value than the higher-ranked alternatives.
3. How Stats & Mastery Progression Work
One of the most important things for new players to understand is that Legacy Piece separates general character progression from the damage progression of individual abilities. Quest EXP increases your character level, and this progression primarily affects your maximum Health and Stamina. A higher character level gives you more room to survive attacks and use movement abilities.
Your actual attack damage is tied to the Mastery Level of the weapon, fighting style, or Devil Fruit you are using rather than simply to your character level. Every combat option has its own Mastery progression. Keep using a specific weapon or ability against enemies to increase its Mastery, which in turn improves its damage and unlocks additional skills.
This means leveling your character alone is not enough. A newly acquired weapon or Devil Fruit may still feel weak until you spend time building its Mastery.
4. Early-Game Progression & Island Navigation
- Starting in Foosha Town: Your first few objectives should focus on establishing your basic equipment, completing introductory quests, and making sure you have a safe respawn location.
- Talk to Woop Slap: Visit Woop Slap near the windmill and accept your first story quest. This begins the early progression path and introduces you to the game’s quest system.
- Upgrade Your Starter Weapon: Your default Fist attacks are relatively slow, so replacing them early can make a noticeable difference. Complete Farmer Kobamuro’s sidequest and defeat the Higuma boss to obtain the Higuma Katana.
- Set Your Spawn: Find the blue Spawn Crystal in town and interact with it. Registering the location saves you from having to make a long trip back from the ocean every time you are defeated.
5. Harbor Travel & Logposes
Exploration becomes much more important as you move between islands, and traveling without the right navigation tools can make the process unnecessarily slow.
Always Buy a Logpose
Before sailing toward another destination, visit the local tool shop and purchase the appropriate Logpose for that island. For destinations such as Alvida Island or Orange Town, having the corresponding Logpose equipped is essential for reliable navigation. Without one, finding your destination across the open ocean becomes very difficult.
Upgrade Your Boat
The starting Rowboat/Sail Boat is fine for your earliest trips, but longer journeys can take a very long time. Save your Beli for better vessels and upgrade at island docks as soon as your budget allows. A faster boat can save considerable travel time once the game begins sending you farther from your starting area.
6. Finding Devil Fruits & Top Starter Choices
Devil Fruits are among the most desirable items in Legacy Piece, but obtaining one requires either patience or enough currency to purchase one directly. Fruits can spawn randomly beneath trees every 40 minutes. You can also obtain them from Fruit Vendors in exchange for Beli or Robux.
S-Tier Fruits
Hie (Ice) and Mera (Flame) are the standout choices for early progression and combat performance. Hie specializes in crowd control, using freezing effects to keep enemies and bosses locked down. This makes it quite useful when you need to control dangerous targets. Mera takes a more damage-oriented approach. Its strong area attacks make it highly effective for clearing groups of quest enemies quickly.
F2P / Budget Fruits
Wax and Bomb are useful Rare options for players who do not have access to the top-tier choices. Both can provide respectable area damage and are capable of speeding up quest farming during the early and middle stages of progression.
7. Tips & Tricks
Manage Your Combo Recovery
Your basic M1 attack strings have recovery windows, so repeatedly attacking without considering the timing can leave you vulnerable. After finishing a combo, use Q to dash away or reposition, then return to the fight once your attack sequence is ready again. Learning to alternate between attacking and repositioning is especially important when fighting stronger enemies that punish extended combos.
Complete Easier Quests Before Boss Quests
Quest markers provide a useful indication of what type of activity you are accepting:
- Blue: Main story quests
- Yellow: Sidequests
- Red: Boss quests
Prioritize the blue and yellow objectives while developing your character. They provide the EXP, Mastery progress, equipment, and general preparation you need before tackling the more demanding red-marked boss encounters.

Legacy Piece gives new players plenty of freedom, but understanding its progression systems makes that freedom much easier to manage. Learn the movement controls first, choose a race that fits your preferred playstyle, and start developing Mastery alongside your character level.
Most importantly, do not rush into every boss fight you encounter. Build your stats and Mastery, improve your equipment, and learn when to disengage. A little preparation goes a long way when you’re setting out on the high seas.
