Naruto Shippuden is a brand-new open-world MMORPG based on the fan-favourite animanga series of Naruto. Primarily, the game takes place in the shippuden arc of Naruto and closely follows the official storyline. Players can play as one of the three team 7 chunins – Naruto, Sasuke, or Sakura. Each character has access to unique fighting abilities and abilities. This Naruto Shippuden F2P progression guide breaks down how to progress fast and cheaply, balancing your economy at the same time. Let’s begin!
Understanding Naruto Shippuden Gameplay and Character Choices
In Naruto Shippuden, players start off by choosing Naruto as their primary character. But, this only lasts for a short period of time. Once you complete the tutorial and 2-3 initial quests, players are finally given the liberty to choose one out of 3 characters – Naruto, Sasuke, or Sakura. Now, each character plays out differently, and has a unique playstyle. The base gameplay is that of an action MMORPG, with your player being the center of the action. So, the character you choose will determine how progression and combat works for you.

Naruto Uzumaki is a melee-ranged Tank that can dish out decent damage as well. His primary focus is to get in the middle of fights, absorb as much damage as possible, and get out when the time is right. Sasuke Uchiha is a long-ranged damage dealer that dish out tons of damage, albeit has a low HP and defense. Players who want to deal damage and be aggressive should take up Sasuke.
Lastly, Sakura Haruno is a long-range support hero that can heal allies, treat wounds, and deal DoT damage. Ironically, many fans consider her to be the weakest link in the same. And, she’s also the weakest in this game by a huge margin. We would consider not picking her up, unless you’re playing with a friend and you guys desperately need a healer to cover in PvE game modes.
How Progression Works in Naruto Shippuden
In Naruto Shippuden, players are tasked with completing several different types of quests to progress in the main story missions. These quests are of 2 types – Main quests and Side quests. The main quests can be completed to progress further in the story, while the side quests should be completed to get more powerful and earn more experience. Sadly, there’s a level limit when it comes to questing in the game. Once you reach a certain level, the quests will stop until you further break past the level. Hence, you will need to fight NPCs and farm in training zones a lot initially.

You will see all the available quests in your inventory on the left-hand side. Like mobile MMOs, you don’t need to use your own mind to navigate through the quests. Simply clicking on the quest itself will guide you towards the questing area. Heck, you can even turn on auto combat if you don’t like manually playing. Simply leave the game aside and it can play out for you, skipping dialogues when needed, and engaging in combat when a fight presents itself. In a way, progression is mostly dependent on time, and resources.
Master the Combat Mechanics of Naruto Shippuden
The combat system is perhaps the main draw of any MMORPG, along with other elements such as progression and art style of course. Naruto Shippuden is backed by the massive Naruto IP, and players can engage in intense third-person oriented action combat. You choose to be either Naruto, Sakura, or Sasuke. Depending on the choice, your basic attacks, and regular abilities are changed. However, the base controls and game setups remain the same.

On the left-hand side, you should see a virtual control wheel that can be toggled with to move your character. Yes, the game is entirely open-world, and the world map is divided into several regions or zones. Players can teleport between these zones according to their questing needs. On the right-hand side, at the top view you should be able to see the mini-map. The blue arrow indicates your own character location, and the red arrows indicate enemies in the vicinity.
You fight using your basic attacks and abilities. These abilities/skills unlock gradually as you level up your account, and simultaneously, the character as well. The more abilities unlocked, the merrier it is. Since combat is the main chokehold of the game, your entire progression depends on it.

Coming to controls, you should also see the dash and jump buttons on the bottom right-hand side. You can use them to dash some distance, and jump across certain objects or areas, respectively. Then there’s the big basic attack button in the middle. You can tap the basic attack button repeatedly to cast combo attacks that change depending on the character you have chosen. And, similarly the abilities surrounding them also change according to the character. You can manage your currently active abilities from the Skills section.
The Economy of Naruto Shippuden Explained
The economy of Naruto Shippuden is not as complicated as you might expect with other mobile MMORPGs. You really only have 3 characters to invest into at the time of writing but the character roster can change in the future. The entire economy depends on acquiring a few key resources, that are as follows:

- Magic is the resource that is required to upgrade your character skills. You get these resources whenever you level up, from daily purchases, and in-game transactions.
- Bound Gold is the paid version of Gold currency in the game. It is used for buying cosmetics, outfits, special effects, and much more in the game. Consider it the most premium currency. You can only get this currency by recharging in the game via in-game transactions.
- Gold is the F2P or freemium currency in the game. Players can get this by simply playing the game, completing missions, in-game mail, pre-registration rewards, and regular events.
In Conclusion
Naruto Shippuden is a mobile MMO in the grassroots stages. It has a lot of work and development left to be done in order to be actually enjoyable for Naruto and mobile fans alike. The biggest crunch is the limitation of being able to play only 3 heroes from the Naruto franchise. But, with new updates and events still in the pipeline, things can change for sure. If you’re a new player starting out in Naruto Shippuden, make sure to follow our tips and keep farming to get more resources!
