It was reported earlier that Motiga, the developer behind colorful PC MOBA title Gigantic, has been shut down by Perfect World Entertainment due to “budgetary decision”. While it was first announced that Perfect World Entertainment had entered into a publisher partnership with Motiga when it was in financial disarray, the developer was really acquired in full by the Chinese gaming giant. Motiga itself has faced several waves of layoffs over the past couple of years due to financial struggles and a deal with Microsoft gone south.
For the full statement from Motiga CEO Chris Chung, head over to Destructoid. Despite having several content updates and improvements over the months, it is most likely Gigantic did not hit the heights (or more bluntly, financial success) Perfect World Entertainment expected, given how popular esports now. It is unknown for how long will Gigantic stay online, so if you have not tried the game, download it from Steam now.
