A new mobile RPG based on the popular Fairy Tail IP launched in Taiwan recently by Garena, titled Fairy Tail: Forces Unite!, and we decided to take a quick look. We have tried a couple Fairy Tail mobile games in recent times, such as Powers Awaken and Endless Adventures, hence were expecting a much better game. As it turns out, Forces Unite! is a much older title which launched in China under Tencent Games some years back. Here is a quick starting gameplay video, with the game set to launch in Indonesia and Thailand soon.
Note: This video was recorded on the PC Android software BlueStacks with max settings.
While we appreciate the game putting players right at the start of the Fairy Tail story, we are not amused by the lack of features for the turn-based combat. First, there is no manual selection of target, even if we want to aim the enemy side’s healer first. Second, there is no speed-up option (2x or 3x), with battles taking quite a long time. Third, the overall damage is way too low even at the starting levels which cause fights to take longer than required. And finally, players cannot control which skill support characters use next. The game gets bored really fast, which we noticed players discussing about it in the world chat.
A personal tip from us, if you happen the play Fairy Tail: Forces Unite! in the upcoming Thai or Indo servers (or the rumored English one), stay away from picking the healer character. Do go for one of the unique DPS character created for the game, as the first top-up bonus gives players Wendy, who is a powerful buff and heal character. While we do like the game overall, the combat system is really behind times (as mentioned above), and there aren’t even maps to grind for EXP with level blocks coming just a few hours into play! Atrocious!
