Star Sailors combines turn-based combat, elemental matchups, skill management, and several layers of team customization. Your squad is built around the Adventurer, two Battle Partners, two Assist Partners, and a Monster Partner, with each role contributing differently during combat.
That makes roster building more complicated than simply choosing the characters with the highest combat stats. This Star Sailors tier list ranks the current Battle and Assist Partners by overall PvE usefulness, boss performance, team synergy, and long-term investment value.
How Star Sailors Team Building Works
A complete lineup contains the following roles:
- Adventurer: Your main character and a permanent member of the battlefield.
- Battle Partners: Two active Partners who fight alongside your Adventurer and use their skills during combat.
- Assist Partners: Two off-field Partners who provide automatic effects and contribute part of their stats to the active team.
- Monster Partner: An additional support slot that provides its own effect and can further enhance the team.
Only the Adventurer and Battle Partners appear directly on the battlefield, but the Assist slots can have a major effect on the team’s overall performance.
Battle vs. Assist Partners
| TYPE | ROLE ON BATTLEFIELD | MAIN VALUE |
| Battle | Active | Damage, tanking, healing, and direct skill effects |
| Assist | Off-field | Buffs, debuffs, Chain support, and stat bonuses |
| Monster | Auxiliary | Teamwide effects and additional tactical utility |
This distinction is important when evaluating this tier list. A Battle Partner with lower personal damage can still be extremely valuable if it provides healing or protection, while an Assist Partner may contribute enormous value without ever appearing on the field.
Battle Partner Tier List
Battle Partners are your active combat units. They need enough damage, durability, or utility to justify one of the two available frontline slots.
| TIER | PARTNERS | MAIN STRENGTH |
| S | Lucy, Nina, Heidi, Kaira, Jen, Nadia the Sand Artist, Remi the Rolling Pop | Premium damage, sustain, defense, and broad team utility |
| A | Iris, Ethan, Carat, Erling, Soul | Strong progression and specialist options |
| B | Iron | Reliable defensive utility with lower endgame ceiling |
S-Tier Battle Partners
Lucy
- Role: Single-target damage
Lucy is the newest addition to the top Battle Partner group and immediately changes how players can approach boss-focused teams. Her strength lies in concentrated damage against individual targets, making her particularly effective when a stage revolves around one durable enemy rather than repeated waves. She is a natural partner for teams that already have reliable support and simply need another way to finish bosses quickly.
Nina
- Role: Earth single-target DPS
Nina is one of the strongest boss killers in the current roster. Her Checkmate skill is very effective against individual targets, giving her enormous value in raids and other encounters where deleting a single high-health enemy is more important than broad area damage. She is one of the best long-term investments for players who want a dedicated bossing Battle Partner.
Heidi
- Role: Fire AoE attacker
Heidi is one of the best wave-clearing options. Her multi-target damage allows her to handle groups efficiently, making her especially useful for story progression, farming stages, and encounters where several enemies arrive together. She is also comparatively easy to build around because her role is immediately clear: clear the battlefield while your other units handle priority targets.
Kaira
- Role: Light support and damage hybrid
Kaira offers an unusual combination of offensive support and healing. Her Crimson Waltz can increase allies’ ATK, allowing her to contribute directly to the team’s damage ceiling while still providing sustain. That flexibility makes her useful in both damage-focused and more defensive formations.
Jen
- Role: Fire Defender
Jen is the frontline specialist of the top Battle group. Her defensive kit gives the team a way to survive incoming pressure while her control effects can disrupt enemies. She is very useful when your DPS units are strong enough to win the fight but need more time to do their work.
Nadia the Sand Artist
- Role: Battle attacker
Nadia is another newer addition to the roster. Her arrival gives players another high-value offensive option and expands the number of viable Battle combinations available for advanced teams. She is especially attractive for players who want a newer damage-focused Partner without relying entirely on the original launch roster.
Remi the Rolling Pop
- Role: Battle attacker
Remi’s newer form provides another competitive option for players building around the current roster. Her upgraded version is considerably more relevant to modern team building than the older Remi, making it important to distinguish the two when comparing tier-list placements.
A-Tier Battle Partners
A-tier Battle Partners are strong enough to carry significant portions of the game, particularly when you are still building toward a complete endgame roster.
- Iris: Iris provides valuable offensive scaling and can remain useful in compositions that need additional damage without giving up utility. Her performance becomes more attractive as fights last longer and her scaling mechanics have more time to develop.
- Ethan: Ethan is a dependable Light attacker who also brings defensive utility. His self-shielding makes him considerably more forgiving than many pure DPS units, which is very useful during early and mid-game progression.
- Carat: Carat is one of the most valuable lower-rarity Battle options. His Wind alignment and chain-oriented strengths let him contribute more than his rarity might suggest, making him an excellent budget choice while your account is still developing.
- Erling: Erling specializes in frontline defense. His Water typing and defensive abilities make him a useful option when you need to survive difficult encounters rather than simply maximize damage.
- Soul: Soul is one of the most interesting budget Battle Partners because his offensive potential increases as his HP falls. That makes him riskier than conventional tanks, but his relatively low rarity and accessible upgrades allow him to perform surprisingly well during account development.
B-Tier Battle Partner
Iron is the only B-tier battle partner in our list and he is a dependable Earth Defender with self-sustaining characteristics. He can hold the frontline effectively during earlier progression, but his more limited ceiling becomes noticeable once your roster contains several premium defensive options. Keep him when you need another tank, then replace him as stronger alternatives become available.
Assist Partner Tier List
Assist Partners operate differently from Battle Partners. They do not take up a frontline combat position but automatically influence the active team. That makes their value particularly important in difficult content, where buffs and debuffs can multiply the impact of your Battle lineup.
| TIER | PARTNERS | MAIN STRENGTH |
| S | Iris, Hunter K, Caroline | Buffing, debuffing, and long-term team scaling |
| A | Dora, Nutty, Sion | Sustain, Chain support, and offensive utility |
| B | Simo, Jerry, Mui | Specialized debuffs and elemental support |
- Iris: Iris is one of the strongest Assist investments because she improves the team while remaining safely off the battlefield. Her Brooch mechanic provides additional scaling as the fight continues, making her quite attractive in longer encounters such as boss battles.
- Hunter K: Hunter K combines offensive support with defensive utility. He improves team damage while also providing Crit Rate RES, making the party less vulnerable to critical-heavy enemies.
- Caroline: Caroline is a very valuable PvP-oriented Assist Partner. Her ability to weaken enemies and remove or interfere with their buffs gives her a more specialized role than Iris or Hunter K.
- Dora: Dora provides reliable sustain and offensive support. She is especially useful during progression because she can improve the team’s survivability without sacrificing the offensive benefits expected from an Assist slot.
- Nutty: Nutty specializes in enemy debuffs and Chain-related support. She is a strong alternative when you do not have the premium debuffing options.
- Sion: Sion offers a more offensive approach to the Assist role. His additional damage and Chain support make him a useful choice for aggressive teams that already have sufficient frontline protection.
- Simo: Simo focuses on lowering enemy defenses. That effect is straightforward but useful, especially when your active Battle Partners rely on physical damage.
- Jerry: Jerry provides area damage alongside Chain-oriented support. He is less efficient than the best Assist Partners but can still fill an offensive utility slot during account development.
- Mui: Mui is useful for Wind-based compositions. Her elemental support becomes more valuable when the rest of your lineup is already built around Wind synergy.
Best Battle and Assist Combinations
The most important lesson you should learn from this tier list is that Battle and Assist Partners should complement one another.
Fire Damage Team
- Battle: Heidi + Jen
- Assist: Caroline + Hunter K
Heidi handles large enemy groups while Jen provides protection. The Assist pairing adds additional offensive and defensive utility, creating a balanced Fire-oriented formation.
Boss-Killer Team
- Battle: Nina + Lucy
- Assist: Hunter K + Iris
Both Battle Partners specialize in concentrated damage, while the Assist slots provide scaling and offensive support. This setup is quite useful for boss-oriented content where eliminating one target quickly is the primary objective.
Light-Focused Team
- Battle: Kaira + Iris
- Assist: Hunter K + Dora
This team emphasizes sustain, offensive buffs, and Light synergy. It is especially useful for players who want a safer composition that can continue functioning through longer encounters.
Budget Wind Team
- Battle: Carat + Erling
- Assist: Mui + Simo
This is a more accessible setup for developing accounts. Carat supplies offensive pressure, Erling stabilizes the frontline, and the Assist choices provide Wind synergy and defensive debuffs.

Think of your team as a small ecosystem: your Battle Partners determine what happens on the field, your Assists determine how efficiently those actions scale, and the Monster Partner adds another layer of specialization. A successful lineup should have a clear answer to three questions: how does it clear groups, how does it handle a boss, and how does it survive a fight that lasts longer than expected?
That approach also makes newer additions easier to evaluate. The best investment is the character that improves a specific weakness in your current formation. Build one dependable core first, then diversify into elemental and mode-specific teams as your account grows. That will give you far more flexibility than spending all your resources trying to collect every highly rated Partner.
