My Singing Monsters Breeding Guide: All Combinations & Tips

Breeding is one of the most important systems in My Singing Monsters by Big Blue Bubble Inc. By combining two compatible Monsters, you can discover new species, fill out your islands’ songs, expand your collection, and build a more productive monster roster.

The system starts out fairly simple, but breeding becomes much more complicated once you begin hunting for multiple element monsters, ethereals, mythicals, rares, and epics. Some monsters follow predictable element rules, while special monsters use their own specific combinations.

Here, we will explain how breeding works, provide combination tables, and cover the strategies that can improve your chances of getting the monsters you’re chasing.

Understanding the Breeding System

Before experimenting with combinations, it’s important to understand how the breeding system works.

⇒ Element Inheritance

For standard natural monsters, the elements of both parents determine the possible offspring. For example, combining a plant monster with a water monster can produce a plant/water monster such as “Oaktopus”.

However, if the same element appears on both sides of the combination, the result can instead be one of the parent monsters. Special monsters such as rares, epics, mythicals, and ethereals follow their own rules.

⇒ Parent Levels Matter

Higher-level parents can improve your chances when attempting to breed special monsters. For the best possible odds, level up the monsters you’re using instead of repeatedly breeding with low-level parents. 

⇒ Wishing Torches

Wishing Torches are one of your most useful tools when hunting rare monsters. Lighting your Torches, or asking friends to light them, temporarily improves your chances of obtaining special monsters. You can unlock Wishing Torches at Level 12.

⇒ Rare Monsters

Most rare monsters use the same breeding combination as their common counterparts. The important difference is availability: Rare monsters can only be bred when the specific monster is available in the Market for breeding.

⇒ Epic Monsters

Epics work differently from rares. Every epic has a unique breeding combination for its island, and an epic can only be bred while it is available in the Market. Therefore, you can’t simply use the common monster’s recipe and expect to get its epic counterpart.

Basic and Advanced Breeding Combinations

1. Natural Double-Element Monsters

The tutorial phase of My Singing Monsters teaches you the basic element combinations. On Plant Island, you can create several double-element monsters by combining the appropriate single-element parents.

These basic combinations are worth memorizing because they form the foundation for breeding many of the more advanced Monsters later.

2. Natural Triple-Element Monsters

Triple-element monsters require a little more planning. The general rule is to combine a single-element Monster with a double-element monster whose elements complete the desired three-element combination.

When you’re experimenting with a new combination, use the Breeding Menu’s possible-results display to check which monsters can currently come from the selected parents.

3. Quad-Element Monsters

Quad-element monsters are some of the most valuable natural monsters you can breed. To create one, you must combine two parents whose elements collectively represent all four natural elements available on that Island.

Special Monsters and Rare Breeding Combinations

As we mentioned above, some of the most desirable monsters don’t follow the standard element-based breeding system. This is especially true for ethereals, mythicals, and Epics.

⇒ Ethereal Monsters

Each natural island has a unique single-element ethereal that can be bred on that island, and each one requires a specific monster combination. The correct pairing doesn’t guarantee success, so multiple attempts may be necessary. Wishing Torches and higher-level parents can improve your chances. Once a natural island ethereal reaches Level 15, it can be teleported to Ethereal Island, where additional ethereal breeding becomes available.

(*) G’joob is not a standard ethereal and it uses its own unique breeding combination – this is why it does not have an alternative. Also, like other special monsters, successfully using the correct pair doesn’t guarantee that you’ll get it on the first attempt.

A Time-Limited Challenge: Seasonal Monster Breeding

Seasonal monsters are only available to breed during their corresponding limited-time events, so knowing the right combination is only the beginning. When a seasonal event is active, use their unique recipe and keep trying until you get the desired result. Once again, Wishing Torches can help improve your chances. Once a seasonal monster reaches Level 15, it can be moved to seasonal shanty, where you can breed additional seasonal monsters.

How to Improve Your Breeding Odds

Even if you find the right combination, creating special monsters can still take multiple attempts, so optimizing the conditions around each breeding attempt is important.

◊ Use the Breeding Menu

The Breeding Menu can help you avoid guesswork. The possible-results display shows which eggs can currently come from your selected parents, while the element filters make it easier to narrow down potential combinations. This is especially useful when your collection becomes large and you can’t easily remember every possible combination.

◊ Speed Up Only When It Makes Sense

Breeding times can become lengthy, especially when you’re repeatedly attempting rare monsters. The game provides ways to speed up breeding with diamonds or video ads, so use them strategically rather than spending your hard-earned diamonds on every attempt. Save your premium currency for periods when you have a strong reason to finish an attempt immediately.

◊ Take Advantage of Breeding Events

Keep an eye on official in-game breeding events and special promotional periods. Events can improve your chances of obtaining particular monsters or make certain breeding targets temporarily available. For rares, epics, and seasonals in particular, availability matters just as much as the recipe itself.

◊ Keep Extra Breeding Parents

Having multiple copies of common monsters can save time when you’re repeatedly trying to obtain a specific monster. Instead of waiting for a parent to finish hatching every time, you’ll always have another suitable monster ready. Also, a failed breeding attempt isn’t necessarily wasted. The resulting monster can often be sold, leveled, used as another breeding parent, or moved to an appropriate Island where it can contribute to currency production.

Start with the basic element combinations, then move into triple and quad-element breeding as your collection grows. Once you’re ready to chase ethereals, mythicals, seasonals, rares, and epics, make sure your parents are properly leveled and your Wishing Torches are active. Most importantly, remember that a correct combination doesn’t guarantee a result, so don’t be discouraged even after a series of unsuccessful attempts.
