Genesis War Tier List – Best Heroes Ranked for September 2026

Genesis War gives players a large roster of heroes to develop, but the amount of investment required for Awakening, class progression, equipment, and skills makes choosing the right characters important. The global roster has already grown from 69 heroes at launch to 85 available characters, with recent additions including Holy King Lacid Pandragon and Phantom Thief Sharn Hoiste.

This Genesis War tier list focuses on overall usefulness in the current global version, considering damage, survivability, utility, TP management, class options, and how easily each hero fits into a strong team. Individual performance can still change considerably depending on equipment, Awakening, and team composition.

Genesis War Tier List

The rankings below use four tiers. S-tier heroes currently stand at the top of the global meta, while A-tier characters are excellent choices that may need more setup or specific teams. B-tier heroes remain completely usable but have clearer limitations, while C-tier characters are generally lower-priority investments unless you particularly enjoy their mechanics.

The current global community ranking is particularly top-heavy: only Black Prince, Dragon Slayer Zephyr, and Altair occupy its highest bracket, while a much larger portion of the roster sits in the middle or lower tiers.

S Tier – The Best Heroes in Genesis War

S-tier characters currently provide some of the strongest combinations of damage, survivability, utility, and battlefield control. They can influence encounters with fewer compromises than most of the roster and remain valuable across demanding content.

Black Prince

Black Prince is currently one of the safest characters to place at the top of a Genesis War tier list. He is a Shadow Fighter designed around aggressive melee combat, with a kit that rewards both defeating enemies and putting himself into dangerous situations. His Extreme Art passive immediately increases his attack while giving him substantial damage reduction, and kills build Soul Accumulation to make Asura Skybreaker cheaper and eventually stronger.

His unique skills are equally difficult to deal with. Dark Light Kill Slash deals Absolute Damage that ignores elemental matchups and normal damage reduction, while Atomic Blast can remove enemy buffs and prevent them from simply rebuilding those buffs afterward. Asura Skybreaker then provides powerful area damage that scales further with Black Prince’s missing HP. This combination of self-sufficiency, burst damage, buff removal, and strong class paths gives him very few obvious weaknesses.

Dragon Slayer Zephyr

Dragon Slayer Zephyr is another character capable of taking over a fight once his mechanics get moving. His Dragon Heart passive begins with Dragonification, increasing ATK, Critical Rate, maximum HP, sustain, and TP generation. Once this state changes into Wild Dragon Mode, those bonuses become considerably stronger while adding damage reduction, movement, and even more TP recovery.

That combination makes Zephyr difficult to shut down while giving him the resources needed to keep using powerful abilities. His performance is not based purely on hitting large numbers; durability and TP economy are major parts of why he works so well. A character capable of staying active while simultaneously becoming harder to kill has obvious value in longer encounters, earning Dragon Slayer Zephyr a spot among the current global meta leaders.

Jane Shore

Jane Shore remains a dangerous ranged option. Her Deadly Whisper passive interacts heavily with enemy debuffs, increasing Critical Rate and building Femme Fatale stacks that reduce the TP requirement of her Reaper Bullet. Higher investment also gives Fatal Seduction stronger effects and eventually opens additional attack opportunities.

She performs best when the rest of the team can consistently place debuffs on her targets, making her more dependent on composition than a completely independent damage dealer. Her long-range Gunner gameplay remains useful for attacking from safer positions, but newer options have made it harder for Jane to stand out purely through ranged damage. She is still effective, particularly on developed accounts that can support her mechanics.

A Tier – Powerful Heroes With a Few Conditions

A-tier heroes sit just below the absolute best characters in the current meta. Many can perform at an S-tier level in the correct composition, but faction requirements, positioning, investment, or more specialized mechanics keep them from being as universally dominant.

Lacid Pandragon (King)

Holy King Lacid is a Legendary Fighter and one of the most recent additions to the global roster. His main distinction is Pandragon’s Legacy, a passive that boosts the base stats of Pandragon faction allies from the moment battle begins. With additional Awakening and Manifestation, these bonuses become substantially stronger while Lacid himself gains Holy King stacks and opportunities for additional attacks.

His strength is therefore closely tied to team construction. A Pandragon-heavy formation gets much more value from him than a random collection of powerful characters. His Arondight Summon Ultimate and strong physical kit still give him individual presence, but his faction-focused design prevents him from being quite as universal as the S-tier heroes. For players already invested in Pandragon units, however, he can become one of the most valuable pieces on the account.

Gishne Driford

Gishne Driford demonstrates why support does not always mean healing. This Crystal Warlock has no Ultimate of his own, but his Transfer of Knowledge passive can restore TP to allies who finish their turns empty. At higher Awakening, that restoration increases, while his area attacks also receive substantial Spell Power bonuses.

TP management is extremely valuable because it affects how frequently the rest of the team can use its strongest abilities. Gishne can consequently improve damage indirectly by allowing high-cost characters to return to their important skills sooner. His lack of an Ultimate and somewhat unconventional role require a team that can take advantage of his TP support, but few characters reproduce this particular utility as effectively.

Witch Cameo Beaufort

Witch Cameo is a much more elaborate version of the original Cameo. Her Shining Talent passive generates different Gems depending on her actions and positioning. Ember, Sparkle, and Icy Gems lead into different effects, while collecting several types allows her to activate additional elemental attacks.

This gives her considerable flexibility as a magic damage dealer, but it also means getting maximum value requires understanding how each Gem is produced. She is not as straightforward as simply using the strongest attack every turn. Players willing to manage those conditions receive powerful elemental options and strong scaling, while those looking for an easier plug-and-play attacker may get more immediate value elsewhere.

Esmeralda

Esmeralda earns her A-tier position by providing one of the strongest dedicated support packages available. Her classes center around healing and protection, while Mercy Saint gives her an unusual safety net when she suffers fatal damage. At higher investment, she temporarily becomes immune to damage and effects before reviving, while wounded allies around her continue receiving healing and debuff removal.

A strong healer becomes increasingly valuable when battles stop being decided by raw damage alone. Esmeralda can keep key attackers active, deal with debuffs, and recover from situations that would otherwise cause the formation to collapse. She contributes less direct pressure than offensive A-tier heroes, but her ability to stabilize difficult fights makes her an excellent addition to many teams.

B Tier – Strong and Usable, but Easier to Replace

B-tier heroes make up much of Genesis War’s functional roster. These characters can work extremely well and often have distinctive strengths, but they tend to face stronger competition, demand more investment, or rely on conditions that make their performance less consistent.

Katherine Spancer

Katherine Spancer works best as a durable secondary fighter who can take pressure off the rest of the team. Her unique passive allows her to absorb damage meant for allies, and her kit includes several self-buffs and enemy debuffs that help her stay active on the frontline. If you choose the Dreadnought class at Tier 3, she can function effectively as an off-tank while still contributing respectable damage.

Her main limitation is that she does not scale as cleanly into the late game as the strongest dedicated tanks or damage dealers. One source specifically notes that her Tier 3 classes fall behind and that she is better suited to a secondary fighter role than a primary carry. Even so, her mix of durability, ally protection, and offensive utility makes her a dependable choice for teams that need extra frontline stability without committing a slot to a pure defender.

Shakbari of War

Shakbari of War rewards players for staying active. Her God of War passive builds Battle Fever when she attacks, uses skills, receives attacks, or gains buffs. Those stacks increase her offensive and defensive stats, while enemy kills can grant additional actions. Higher investment can eventually provide War’s Authority to the whole team, improving both attack and HP.

When Shakbari maintains momentum, she can become a very capable frontline fighter. The issue is consistency. Battle Fever can decrease when she fails to keep triggering it, and action-control effects interfere with her ability to maintain those stacks. She has a strong ceiling, but the current roster includes several melee characters that reach comparable or better results with fewer conditions.

Lina MacLorlein

Lina is a dedicated Light healer whose Hand of Mediation passive combines recovery with debuff removal. Using single-target skills on allies can cleanse them and apply persistent healing, while the number of allies carrying Mediating Hand also improves Lina’s healing and reduces the TP requirement of Divine Eos.

That is a strong and dependable support foundation, and Lina can remain useful well beyond the beginning of the game. Her B-tier placement mostly reflects competition. Newer or more specialized supports provide stronger defensive effects, broader utility, or more impactful recovery tools. Lina still does her job effectively, but established accounts will often have alternatives that contribute more than healing and cleansing alone.

C Tier – Lower-Priority and Niche Choices

C-tier heroes can still complete content when properly developed, but they are difficult to recommend as major investments when stronger alternatives are available. Some have useful mechanics that fall off later, while others demand specific equipment or formations without offering enough payoff in return.

Siren Woodville

Siren is primarily useful as an accessible defensive option. She can hold the frontline and provide buffs to nearby allies, which makes her convenient while an account is still assembling better tanks.

Her main problem is long-term scaling. As stronger defenders become available, they bring more effective damage mitigation, utility, or offensive contributions alongside their durability. Siren can fill a gap in an early roster, but investing heavily in her becomes harder to justify once more complete frontline characters arrive. Earlier global assessments similarly identified her as a functional early-game tank whose value declines later.

Kashutar Günter

Kashutar has some self-sustain, which gives him a degree of independence when operating away from dedicated healing. His class options can also turn him into a serviceable melee character if a player is willing to build around him.

However, his damage does not scale particularly well compared with higher-tier attackers, and his stronger options can demand substantial TP. Some of his effects also overlap with debuffs that stronger characters already provide more efficiently. These limitations make Kashutar usable rather than compelling, especially once resources become scarce and every major investment competes with stronger heroes.

Ariana Weaver Jr.

Ariana Weaver Jr. has perhaps the simplest problem of any character in this tier: the regular Ariana Weaver exists.

He can provide ranged damage, but his overall performance is essentially a reduced version of what the stronger character offers. That does not prevent him from filling the role when your roster is limited, but there is little competitive reason to prioritize him once the original Ariana or another capable ranged attacker becomes available. His place in C tier is therefore less about a fundamentally unusable kit and more about direct competition from a superior alternative.

Cameo Beaufort

The original Cameo has one genuinely appealing feature: access to multiple elemental damage types. That flexibility can help when you need to exploit different weaknesses without changing characters.

Her unique passive, however, only activates once per battle, limiting how consistently it influences longer encounters. The arrival of Witch Cameo Beaufort also makes the comparison particularly unfavorable, as the newer variant develops the multi-element concept into a much more substantial combat system. Cameo remains usable for players who already developed her, but she is difficult to prioritize when stronger mages can contribute more throughout an entire battle.

Genesis War’s current global roster has grown quickly, and that has already changed the relative value of many characters that looked much stronger around launch. Black Prince, Dragon Slayer Zephyr, and Altair currently stand apart as the most influential all-around options, while A-tier characters such as Holy King Lacid, Gishne Driford, Witch Cameo, and Esmeralda remain excellent investments with the right conditions. The September global update also confirms that the roster is still expanding, so future releases and balance changes can continue shifting these rankings.

Lower-tier heroes are not automatically unusable. Genesis War places considerable importance on positioning, class progression, equipment, Awakening, and team synergy, meaning a developed B-tier character can easily be more valuable to an individual account than an S-tier hero with none of the pieces needed to support them. Use the tier list to determine where your resources are likely to have the greatest long-term impact, then adjust around the heroes and playstyles you actually have available.
