Summoners War: Chronicles – Quick tour of new Korean MMORPG via Windows PC version

Last week, developer Com2uS officially launched Summoners War: Chronicles in its domestic market of South Korea. As a the latest entry in the Summoners War franchise, this is the first MMORPG attempt and takes place the earliest when it comes to the lore. With a focus on AI companions, we took a short tour in the game to have a first-hand feel of this prequel. Com2uS is planning to launch the global version this coming winter.

  • Players can have up to 3 accompanying monsters following them and supporting them in battle at all times.
  • There is a main monster, where players would have to actively activate its skills. The other 2 are AI controlled.
  • Other than various kinds of paid passes, the main money sink would be the monster gacha.
  • Each monster have different elemental types as seen from its colors. However, from what we saw, each elemental type of the same monster does have unique skills.
  • There are some modes which manual control is compulsory, while others allow automated combat. This is something we do not like, as a single system is preferred from us.
  • We did experience a team co-op PVE dungeon, which is really cool fighting alongside other players and their team of monsters.

As mentioned previously, Com2uS has a grand plan to expand in the blockchain/ web3 gaming market. The upcoming global version of Summoners War: Chronicles is seeing a blockchain integration, as confirmed during Com2uS’ latest quarterly financial call. It remains to be seen how this will affect the global server. Stay tuned for updates!
