Fortnite – Epic Games confirms battle royale will not launch on Google Play

[Source] Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney recently confirmed to Gamesindustry.biz that Fortnite, the world’s most popular game right now, will not launch on Google Play. Instead, the game’s APK will be made downloadable from its official website when a date is confirmed. The reason given was the 30% store tax which Google gets for all revenue generated by the game. Fortnite is available on App Store and Apple takes a cut as well, but Tim Sweeny did not compare the 2 platforms. Fortnite is scheduled to launch for Android later this summer.
