The October Portal Panic event has brought interdimensional chaos to Clash of Clans, complete with temporary troops, exclusive rewards, and a new piece of Epic Hero Equipment. To earn these prizes, you’ll need to collect Sour Elixir from battles, advance through the event reward track, and spend your Rift Medals before the Trader’s event shop closes.
The event is available to players at Town Hall 6 and above, giving both developing and established villages a chance to participate. Here’s how to collect the event currency efficiently, which rewards deserve your attention, and how to make the most of the limited-time content.
1. Portal Panic Event Overview & Schedule
Portal Panic runs for a limited period, but the reward shop remains accessible for two additional days after Sour Elixir collection ends. Keep both deadlines in mind so you have enough time to earn rewards and spend your medals.
| DETAILS | DATE/REQUIREMENT |
| Event Begins | October 8, 2026, at 08:00 UTC |
| Sour Elixir Collection Ends | October 25, 2026, at 08:00 UTC |
| Trader Event Shop Closes | October 27, 2026, at 08:00 UTC |
| Minimum Town Hall Level | Town Hall 6 |
| Event Resource | Sour Elixir |
| Shop Currency | Rift Medals |
Although you can continue spending Rift Medals after October 25, you cannot keep progressing through the event track indefinitely. Aim to finish collecting Sour Elixir before the first deadline and use the extra two days to make your remaining purchases.
2. How to Collect Sour Elixir
Sour Elixir is the temporary currency that moves you through the Portal Panic reward track. Your main source is attacking Home Village bases and destroying the buildings marked with the event resource.
Target Marked Buildings & Collect the Daily Fountain Bonus
Look for the Sour Elixir indicators above selected buildings when scouting an opponent’s village. Destroying these structures earns event currency and advances your progress toward the next reward milestone. Also, the Sour Elixir Fountain appears on the northwestern side of your Home Village. Visit it regularly to collect an additional 100 Sour Elixir per day and access the event reward track.
Progress Through the Reward Track
Every Sour Elixir milestone brings you closer to event rewards, including Rift Medals, temporary troops, Ores, and other useful items. The main track requires 16,000 Sour Elixir to complete. After finishing it, you can continue gathering currency for the bonus reward track, which requires another 7,000 Sour Elixir and provides additional Rift Medals.
3. How to Earn Rift Medals
Rift Medals are awarded at designated points along the Portal Panic reward track. You then use this currency in the Trader’s event shop to choose the rewards that best suit your village.
Free Track Rewards
The free reward track offers thousands of Rift Medals alongside temporary troops and other progression items. It is possible to get up to 3,200 Rift Medals from the standard track. Once the main track is complete, the bonus section offers further opportunities to earn medals. Its additional milestones award 40 Rift Medals each, for a total of 200 more. That makes continued Sour Elixir collection worthwhile even after the main rewards have been claimed.
Premium Event Pass
The optional Event Pass, listed at 4.99 USD, unlocks an additional 5,500 Rift Medals, together with extra Ores and other magic items. The premium track is most relevant to players who want to obtain several high-cost shop rewards or accelerate their Hero Equipment progression. Check the purchase price and included rewards in your own game before buying, as storefront details can vary.
Make Your Medals Count
Rift Medals are temporary event currency, so don’t treat them like a permanent resource that you can save for the next medal event. Before spending, identify the rewards you need most. Epic Equipment, valuable Ores, and useful magic items may offer more long-term progression than a collection of smaller resource bundles.
4. Top Rewards & Trader Shop Highlights
The Trader’s event shop contains equipment, upgrade materials, magic items, potions, decorations, and ordinary resources. Your best purchases depend on your current Town Hall level and which parts of your village need the most investment. Portal Pendant: New Epic Equipment for the Minion Prince
The headline reward is the Portal Pendant, an active Epic Equipment item for the Minion Prince. When activated, it opens a portal that recalls nearby friendly troops and Heroes within its radius, subject to its Recall Capacity. The recalled units return to the deployment bar so you can redeploy them elsewhere on the battlefield. Its effects include:
- Unit Recall: Retrieves eligible friendly troops and Heroes within the portal’s range, up to its capacity.
- Redeployment Boost: Returned units receive partial healing and a temporary movement-speed increase.
- Minion Prince Healing: The Prince is healed whenever the portal activates.
- Automatic Rescue: If the Minion Prince would otherwise receive fatal damage, the portal activates automatically to save him.
Upgrading the equipment improves its portal radius, recall capacity, healing, and speed-boost duration. Siege Machines are not affected by its recall effect.
Ores for Hero Equipment
Ores are important for improving Hero Equipment, so the Trader’s inventory is useful for players who have several abilities to develop. The event shop includes Starry Ore, Glowy Ore, and Shiny Ore. Their value depends on which equipment you’re upgrading and how much of each material you already have.
Magic Items and Potions
The shop also features a selection of items designed to accelerate different types of village progression.
| REWARD TYPE | EXAMPLES | BEST USE |
| Books | Book of Heroes, Book of Building, Book of Fighting | Skip selected upgrade timers |
| Potions | Builder Potion, Research Potion, Power Potion, Pet Potion | Speed up or temporarily improve specific activities |
| Runes | Rune of Gold, Rune of Elixir | Refill eligible resource storage |
| Other Items | Shovel of Obstacles, Wall Rings | Handle obstacles or assist with wall upgrades |
| Resources | Gold, Elixir, Dark Elixir | Support ordinary village development |
Before buying a magic item, consider whether you can use it immediately and whether it saves a meaningful amount of time. Items that address a long-running upgrade bottleneck deserve priority over rewards that provide only a small, temporary benefit.
Exclusive Decorations
Players who enjoy customizing their villages can spend medals on event-themed decorations such as the Coin Collector and Portal Staff. These items are primarily collectible rewards rather than direct progression upgrades. The shop also features Clan House cosmetic items and additional equipment options, giving collectors and active players more ways to use their remaining medals.
Portal Pendant Boost: October 20–25
Players at Town Hall 9 and above can try the Portal Pendant at its maximum level during the temporary equipment boost, scheduled from October 20 at 08:00 UTC through October 25 at 08:00 UTC.
This is an opportunity to test its full capabilities before committing to a long-term equipment investment. If you’re unsure whether it suits your attack strategy, use the boost period to experiment with different troop combinations and deployment timings.
5. All Temporary Troops in Portal Panic
The event track unlocks five temporary troops, including the newly introduced Totem Thrower. Each unit has a different role, allowing you to experiment with unfamiliar strategies during the seasonal event.
Totem Thrower: New Event Troop
The Totem Thrower specializes in ranged ground attacks, dealing substantial damage from approximately six tiles away. Its distinctive mechanic activates on the first attack and every fourth attack afterward: instead of throwing a rock, it launches a cursed totem. The impact stuns nearby defenses and creates a stationary Tiny Totem that absorbs incoming fire while gradually losing health.
Lavaloon
Lavaloon combines the attack patterns of a Balloon and a Lava Hound. It prioritizes Air Defenses, drops bombs while traveling toward its target, and produces Lavaloon Pups during its attack sequence and when destroyed. The resulting explosion also deals area damage, making the unit a useful option for players experimenting with aggressive air-based attacks.
Witch Golem
The Witch Golem is a durable ground unit that targets defenses while continually summoning Skeletons as it advances. When defeated, it releases Big Boys, allowing the attack to maintain pressure even after the main unit has fallen. Its combination of durability and additional units makes it suitable for strategies that overwhelm defenses through sustained pressure.
Royal Ghost
The Royal Ghost focuses on getting through enemy defenses before they can properly respond. It can pass through walls and remains untargetable by defenses for the first 12 seconds after deployment. Its attacks also slow the targets it hits, giving it additional utility beyond its initial period of protection.
Giant Skeleton
The Giant Skeleton is another defense-targeting unit, built to absorb punishment before delivering a final area-damage effect. When it is destroyed, the bomb it carries detonates and damages nearby structures and units. Positioning it where the explosion can affect multiple targets helps make its final attack more valuable.

Portal Panic offers Clash of Clans players a limited-time route to new Hero Equipment, temporary troops, upgrade materials, and seasonal collectibles. Collect Sour Elixir by targeting marked buildings, claim the daily fountain bonus, and advance through the reward track to build your Rift Medal balance. Most importantly, keep both event deadlines in view. Finish collecting Sour Elixir before October 25 and spend your remaining Rift Medals by October 27, when the Trader’s event shop closes.
