Blade & Soul – Tencent Games looking to nab publishing rights

Tencent Games, the biggest online gaming company in China, has confirmed through its Vice President that the company is looking to bring NCsoft’s upcoming MMO epic, Blade & Soul, to China. This comes after rumors started spreading earlier this month.

If it really happens, Tencent would have the rights for 2 of the “Big 3 Korean MMOs” in recent years, ArcheAge and Blade & Soul (the other being TERA). Tencent Games also revealed several new titles slated for release this year, which can be seen here. Below are 2 questions extract from an interview with Tencent Games’ Vice President.

Q: Tencent Games acquired the publishing rights for Lineage 1 and 2 in China recently, how will the business model be for these 2 games? Any scheduled release date?

I will like to make it clear, Tencent Games have never revealed or announced that we are publishing Lineage 1 and 2 in China. We have only confirmed Mr Jake Song’s 3rd generation MMO, ArcheAge, and there are no details available for the Lineage games.

Q: Is it only a matter of time before Tencent Games confirm the publishing rights for Blade & Soul China?

It is just an industry rumor now and we will never comment on rumors. Personally, I will love to bring Blade & Soul to China, but currently we are actually waiting for news from NCsoft to announce which company will get the publishing rights.
