With hundreds of Champions spread across 16 factions and rarities ranging from Rare to Mythical, deciding where to spend your Skill Tomes, Glyphs, Blessings, and gear can be difficult in RAID: Shadow Legends.
The right Champion can carry you to the top. A strong support can carry multiple teams, while an exceptional damage dealer can dramatically speed up dungeon and boss farming. At the same time, some Champions that look impressive on paper are only valuable in a narrow selection of content.
This 2026 tier list focuses on overall account value, taking into account versatility, utility, survivability, turn-meter control, damage output, and how well each Champion performs relative to the resources required to build them.
Tier List Criteria
Every Champion in this ranking is evaluated according to three main factors:
- Versatility: Can the Champion perform well across multiple parts of the game? A Champion who is useful in Hydra, Clan Boss, Dungeons, Doom Tower, and Arena is generally more valuable than a specialist who only excels in one encounter.
- Utility: Strong utility can include effects such as turn meter manipulation, team-wide buffs, cleansing, revives, crowd control, protection, and damage mitigation. A Champion with several useful mechanics can remain relevant long after newer heroes arrive.
- Investment Value: A Champion’s ranking also depends on how much investment they need. Some characters become exceptional once fully geared, while others perform remarkably well with modest resources.
Champion Tier Overview
| TIER | DESCRIPTION | CHAMPIONS |
| S | Meta-defining Champions with exceptional value across multiple major modes | Galleus Bloodcrest, Cardiel, Acrizia, Alaz the Sunbearer |
| A | Elite performers and outstanding specialists for high-level content | Siegfrund the Nephilim, Lady Mikage, Duchess Lilitu, Gnut |
| B | Reliable Champions that become excellent in the right composition | Deacon Armstrong, Uugo, Stag Knight, Madame Serris |
| C | Niche, early-game, or highly specialized Champions | Kael, Elhain, Athel, campaign Rares |

Keep in mind that a Champion’s actual value can change dramatically depending on the game mode. A B-tier Champion can still be an S-tier pick for a specific dungeon or boss.
S-Tier Champion Spotlight
1. Galleus Bloodcrest
- Rarity: Mythical
- Faction: Skinwalkers
- Role: Defense
- Best Uses: Arena, Doom Tower, Boss Content
Galleus is one of the most sought-after Mythical Champions in the current meta. His exceptional defensive profile is only part of the reason. His kit also turns incoming attacks into opportunities for additional damage, allowing him to combine durability with serious offensive pressure. That combination makes him valuable in content where survival and sustained damage are equally important.
Why Galleus Is S-Tier
- Exceptional survivability
- Strong counterattack mechanics
- Valuable in several PvE modes
- Effective in PvP
- Excellent scaling with high-end gear
2. Alaz the Sunbearer
- Rarity: Mythical
- Faction: Barbarians
- Role: Defense
- Best Uses: Hydra, PvP, Boss Content
Alaz combines protection, control, counterattacks, and HP Burn into a remarkably complete kit. His alternate form adds another layer of utility, allowing him to apply additional pressure against bosses while helping keep the rest of the team alive. That combination makes Alaz a prominent choice for Hydra and other demanding content.
Why Alaz Is S-Tier
- Excellent team protection
- Strong HP Burn potential
- Counterattack mechanics
- Crowd-control utility
- Valuable in both PvE and PvP

3. Cardiel
- Rarity: Legendary
- Affinity: Void
- Faction: Sacred Order
- Role: Support
- Best Uses: Clan Boss, Hydra, Arena
Cardiel remains one of the safest long-term investments for an endgame account. Rather than depending on one specific mechanic, he brings several forms of support to a team, including cleansing, ally attack utility, and offensive buffs. His is quite versatile: You can use him in a wide range of compositions rather than building an entire team around a single niche.
Why Cardiel Is S-Tier
- Team cleansing
- Ally Attack utility
- Critical Rate and Critical Damage buffs
- Strong endgame versatility
- Excellent long-term value
4. Acrizia
- Rarity: Legendary
- Affinity: Void
- Faction: Dwarves
- Role: Attack
- Best Uses: Hydra, Spider, High-Level Dungeons
Acrizia specializes in exactly the type of damage that makes difficult PvE encounters much easier: attacks that scale exceptionally well against high-health enemies. Her Enemy Max HP-based mechanics and Turn Meter manipulation allow her to eliminate bosses while also contributing meaningful utility.
Why Acrizia Is S-Tier
- Outstanding boss damage
- Enemy Max HP scaling
- Turn Meter reduction
- Excellent Hydra performance
- Extremely strong against high-health targets
Best Champions by Game Mode
A universal ranking doesn’t tell the whole story. Some Champions become dramatically more valuable in particular modes.
Best Clan Boss Champions
Strong options include:
- Cardiel
- Demytha
- Maneater
- Duchess Lilitu
For Clan Bosses, team synergy matters more than raw Champion tier. Speed, survivability, and damage cycles should all be considered before creating an established team.
Best Hydra Champions
Hydra strongly rewards Champions that combine survivability with debuffs, cleansing, protection, and reliable damage. Top options include:
- Acrizia
- Alaz the Sunbearer
- Lady Mikage
- Uugo
Best Epic Champions to Build Early
Several Epics offer exceptional value without requiring a Legendary or Mythical roster. Recommended priorities include:
- Deacon Armstrong
- Stag Knight
- Uugo
- Rector Drath
- Royal Guard
Deacon and Stag Knight are especially useful for account progression because their kits cover important team-building functions.

Starter Champion Guide
Every new RAID: Shadow Legends account begins by choosing one of four Magic-affinity Rare Champions:
- Kael
- Elhain
- Athel
- Galek
All four can carry a new account through early Campaign content, but their long-term value isn’t identical.
Kael
- Strengths: AoE damage, Poison, Campaign farming
- Late-Game Value: High
- Verdict: Best all-round starter for most new accounts
Kael remains the safest general recommendation because his Poison abilities provide useful damage against high-health PvE targets. He is especially helpful during early Clan Boss progression and remains useful in Dungeon content too.
Elhain
- Strengths: Strong AoE damage and wave clearing
- Late-Game Value: Moderate
- Verdict: Excellent alternative for damage-focused players
Elhain can tear through early Campaign waves thanks to her multiple AoE attacks. She’s a good choice for players who want straightforward offensive power, although she generally offers less utility than Kael once you progress deeper into the game.
Athel
- Strengths: Multi-hit attacks, Attack buff, Weaken
- Late-Game Value: Moderate
- Verdict: Solid all-purpose alternative
Athel provides a useful mixture of personal buffs, multi-hit damage, and Weaken. She’s a perfectly fine starter and can remain useful when built correctly, especially if your early roster lacks another Champion who can provide similar utility.
Galek
- Strengths: AoE damage, Speed boost, Decrease DEF
- Late-Game Value: Lower than Kael
- Verdict: Usable, but not the first recommendation
Galek can handle early Campaign farming and brings Decrease DEF utility, but most players will find Kael more useful over a longer period.

For beginners, this is the best advice we can give: choose Kael, take your first major Champion to 60, build teams around their actual roles, and spend scarce resources on Champions you expect to use repeatedly.
