With Korean developer Gravity missing from G-Star 2020, many readers have reached out to find out more about the future of the Ragnarok IP. While we do not have the full outlook, we did find out more about Gravity’s plans for the near future. Just before we being, it is important to note that Gravity saw a 93.1% increase in Net Profit in Q3 2020 (compared to Q2 2020) and a 182.4% increase compared to Q3 2019. However you may dislike Gravity “milking” the Ragnarok IP, it is obviously working and will intensify in the years to come.
Ragnarok Origin
First launch in South Korea back in April, Ragnarok Origin has remained a domestic exclusive since then. However, that is set to change as the Japan server has been confirmed for a launch in the first half of 2021. There is no English server announced.
Ragnarok X: Next Generation
Also known as Ragnarok M: New Start!, the game recently launch in Taiwan before anywhere else. We guess it helped that the super-rich ByteDance, parent company of TikTok, is behind the launch. As previously stated, Ragnarok X: Next Generation is confirmed for the region of Southeast Asia. While it was mentioned as a second half 2020 launch before, it has now shifted to the first half of 2021.
The Lost Memories: A Song of Valkyrie
A story-based mobile RPG, The Lost Memories: A Song of Valkyrie was first revealed at G-Star 2019. According to Gravity, the game will launch in Thailand in the first half of 2021. No operating company was announced, but the publisher is most likely Gravity’s new subsidiary in Thailand, Gravity Game Tech.
Action RO2: Spear of Odin
We were surprised by Gravity calling this game “RO2”, and still am in shock. Back in 2017, there was also a game from Gravity titled Ragnarok: Spear of Odin, and we are unsure if it is a improved version of the same game. According to Gravity’s notice, Action RO2: Spear of Odin, a 3D Action MORPG mobile game, is set to launch in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Australia in the first half of 2021. The publisher is most likely Gravity’s new subsidiary in Thailand, Gravity Game Tech.
Ragnarok Begins
As you can see in the pipeline below, perhaps the most interesting title is the PC MMORPG, Ragnarok Begins. Nothing is confirmed about the game right now, so stay tuned for info!
Wait, what about regions outside of Asia?
There is no way we can spin this up, but there is only ONE game announced for North, Central and South America… introducing Tactical Warfare! This mobile FPS is now in pre-registration phase on Google Play. There is also a web browser version running. Yeah~!
