Shin Kaku Gi Kou – Square Enix reveals new mobile RPG written by A Certain Magical Index creator

Last month, Square Enix teased a new mobile game which will be written by Kazuma Kamachi, the creator of A Certain Magical Index and designed by Kiyotaka Haimura, the main illustrator of A Certain Magical Index as well. The game was recently revealed to be Shin Kaku Gi Kou, loosely translated as “God Horn Skill and The 11 Destroyers” for the full name. Other than the normal RPG elements, players can also destroy the environment to collect materials for crafting various items and constructing various different buildings.

The main feature in Shin Kaku Gi Kou are the “God Horn Skills”, which is the name of the game. It is a summon attack skill which deals huge damage to all surrounding enemies and destructible objects. Sort of  like a Final Fantasy summon. Only 3 characters who are able to perform “God Horn Skills” are revealed on the official website, although all of them can be seen in the first game trailer above. Each of them are associated with a weapon, with the protagonist controlling the blade, while the other revealed 2 wields a rifle and a spear.

According to the storyline, these special weapons which are able to perform “God Horn Skills” are made from the horn of an actual demon king. There were only 10 recorded in history, but the protagonist (Miyabi Blackgarden) obtained the mysterious 11th weapon when a seriously injured character known as Moebius passed on his power to him. Upon further reading, it was stated that “God Horn Skills” also refer to the weapons themselves, not just the summons. Shin Kaku Gi Kou is scheduled to launch in Japan sometime in 2019.
