The writing was already on the wall as recently as last week, when a staff from the Paragon development team posted the team’s concerns about the future of Paragon on Reddit. With the explosive growth of Fortnite due to the Battle Royale mode, it was not justifiable both financial and manpower wise to continue creating content for Paragon, as the game has a limited pool of core players.
