How Dual-Type Cards Work in Pokémon TCG Pocket Dual Fusion
Dual-type cards print two type symbols next to their HP. The set launches with two of them: Mega Mewtwo X ex (Psychic/Fighting) and Mega Greninja ex (Water/Darkness). The second type changes how these cards hit and what supports them, but not how you power them.
- One Energy type to pay – Attack costs still use a single type. Mega Mewtwo X ex runs on Psychic Energy, while Mega Greninja ex runs on Water.
- One Weakness to fear – Each card lists just one Weakness. Mega Mewtwo X ex is weak to Darkness, and Mega Greninja ex is weak to Lightning.
- Two types of offense – Their attacks count as both types for Weakness. Any Pokémon weak to either type takes the usual +20 damage.
- A bigger support pool – Cards that boost a specific type work if either type matches. Fighting-type support now helps Mega Mewtwo X ex, even though it runs on Psychic Energy.
Both cards are Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, so a Knock Out hands your opponent three points. Three points win a match, which means losing your Mega ends the game on the spot. Build your deck with that risk in mind.

Mega Mewtwo X ex vs. Mega Greninja ex
| Stat | Mega Mewtwo X ex | Mega Greninja ex |
| Types | Psychic/Fighting | Water/Darkness |
| HP | 180 | 200 |
| Stage | Basic | Stage 2 (from Frogadier) |
| Attack | Dual Impact: 100 damage, +40 if a Stadium is in play | Splash of Darkness: 100 damage, and the Defending Pokémon can’t retreat next turn |
| Attack cost | 2 Psychic + 1 Colorless | 2 Water |
| Weakness | Darkness (+20) | Lightning (+20) |
| Retreat Cost | 2 | 0 |
| Booster pack | Mega Mewtwo X | Pikachu |

Dual Impact checks for any Stadium in play, not just yours. If your opponent drops a Stadium, Mega Mewtwo X ex still hits for 140. Abandoned Station from this set gives you a reliable Stadium of your own.
Mega Greninja ex plays a sneakier game. Splash of Darkness traps the Defending Pokémon for a turn, and its free retreat lets you pivot whenever you like.
The Dual Fusion Weakness Triangle
The set’s three headline cards form a neat loop, and knowing it will shape your deck choices.
- Pikachu EX beats Mega Greninja EX. Greninja is weak to Lightning, so every Pikachu ex attack gains +20 damage.
- Mega Mewtwo X EX beats Pikachu EX. Pikachu ex is weak to Fighting. Dual Impact’s 100 damage becomes 120, exactly Pikachu ex’s HP.
- Mega Greninja EX beats Mega Mewtwo X EX. Mewtwo is weak to Darkness, and Greninja’s Darkness half triggers it.

Best Pokémon ex in Pokémon TCG Pocket Dual Fusion
The main set holds 12 Pokémon ex, split evenly across both packs. Each one costs 500 Pack Points to exchange.
| Pokémon ex | Type | HP | Booster Pack |
| Mega Mewtwo X ex | Psychic/Fighting | 180 | Mega Mewtwo X |
| Mew ex | Psychic | 130 | Mega Mewtwo X |
| Mega Tyranitar ex | Darkness | 240 | Mega Mewtwo X |
| Giratina ex | Dragon | 150 | Mega Mewtwo X |
| Lycanroc ex | Fighting | 150 | Mega Mewtwo X |
| Bewear ex | Colorless | 160 | Mega Mewtwo X |
| Pikachu ex | Lightning | 120 | Pikachu |
| Mega Greninja ex | Water/Darkness | 200 | Pikachu |
| Mega Dragonite ex | Dragon | 240 | Pikachu |
| Alolan Exeggutor ex | Grass | 180 | Pikachu |
| Mega Skarmory ex | Metal | 170 | Pikachu |
| Fuecoco ex | Fire | 130 | Pikachu |

Mega Mewtwo X ex and Mew ex
Mew ex is the engine behind Mewtwo. Its Secret Guidance attack costs one Psychic Energy and flips three coins. For each heads, you attach a Psychic Energy from your Energy Zone to your Benched Psychic Pokémon. Mega Mewtwo X ex qualifies, so a good flip can power Dual Impact before Mewtwo ever goes Active. Mew ex also swings for 60 with Psyburn when you need chip damage.
Pikachu ex With Light Ball and Pawmot
Pikachu ex is a 120 HP Basic with two attacks. Pika Punch deals 30 for one Lightning Energy. Thundertail deals 130 for three Energy, but it discards two Lightning Energy afterward. Light Ball pushes Thundertail to 160 against the opponent’s Active Pokémon.

Pawmot keeps that engine running. Its Electrocreation Ability attaches a Lightning Energy from your Energy Zone to your Active Lightning Pokémon once per turn. That refill offsets Thundertail’s discard nicely.
Mega Greninja ex and Frogadier
Frogadier makes the Greninja line far less clunky. Its Sudden Duplication Ability triggers when you evolve into Frogadier from your hand. It puts a random Frogadier from your deck straight onto your Bench. That gives you two shots at reaching Mega Greninja ex without needing two Froakies.

Mega Tyranitar ex
Mega Tyranitar ex is the set’s biggest wall, with 240 HP. Crushing Rampage deals 180 for two Darkness and two Colorless Energy. It also discards the top two cards of your deck, so watch your deck count in long games. That 180 damage knocks out Mega Mewtwo X ex in one hit, even through Eviolite.

Mega Dragonite ex and Giratina ex
Mega Dragonite ex also sits at 240 HP. Draconic Meteor deals 250 damage to one of your opponent’s Pokémon, chosen at random. It needs Water, Lightning, and three Colorless Energy, so it’s a slow but devastating finisher.
Giratina ex is a 150 HP Basic Dragon. Slash deals 50 for two Colorless Energy. Dragon Impact deals 140 for Grass, Psychic, and one Colorless Energy.

Alolan Exeggutor ex
Alolan Exeggutor ex is a 180 HP Stage 1 with a spread attack. Long-Neck Hammering deals 100 to the Active Pokémon for three Grass Energy. It also hits a random Benched Pokémon for 50.

Key Trainer Cards in Dual Fusion Update
Dual Fusion’s Trainer cards lean toward consistency, healing, and one very handy Stadium.
| Card | Type | Pack | Effect |
| Serena’s Choice | Supporter | Pikachu | Look at your top three cards, take one, and shuffle the rest back. |
| Poké Mart Guy | Supporter | Pikachu | Puts two random Super Potion, Max Repel, or Full Heal cards from your deck into your hand. |
| Light Ball | Pokémon Tool | Pikachu | Pikachu ex’s attacks deal +30 damage to the opponent’s Active Pokémon. |
| Eviolite | Pokémon Tool | Both | The Basic Pokémon holding it takes 20 less damage from attacks. |
| Abandoned Station | Stadium | Mega Mewtwo X | Once per turn, each player may flip a coin and draw a card on heads. |
| Sweet Honey | Item | Mega Mewtwo X | Heals your Pokémon, and Ribombee can generate rental copies of it. |
Ribombee Brings Rental Cards Into Battle
Ribombee’s Honey Gather Ability puts a Sweet Honey rental card into your hand once per turn. It’s the first Pocket effect that creates temporary cards mid-battle. That gives Grass decks a renewable source of healing.
Vespiquen turns the same stockpile into damage. Its attack reveals every Sweet Honey in your hand and deals 50 damage per card.

Which Dual Fusion Booster Pack Should You Open First?
Each Dual Fusion booster pack holds its Megas’ full evolution lines. That means your pick decides which decks you can build.

| Pack Immersive Rare | Umbreon | Jigglypuff |

- Open Mega Mewtwo X first if you want the headline dual-type deck. Mewtwo, Mew ex, and Abandoned Station all live here.
- Open Pikachu first if you want more decks from one pack. Pikachu ex, Light Ball, Mega Greninja ex, and Serena’s Choice all come from it.
- Don’t chase two Immersive Rares in packs. The Pikachu ex and Mega Mewtwo X ex Immersive Rares come from themed collection missions instead.
Leftover Pack Points can fill the gaps. Our Pack Points guide explains exchange rates and the smartest ways to spend them.

Dual Fusion Solo Battles: Step-Up Challenge Breakdown
Dual Fusion adds 12 Solo Step-Up Battles. You get one Beginner (Wartortle), two Intermediate (Blastoise and Pawmot), three Advanced, and six Expert battles.
Expert Battles and Their Mono-Type Tasks
Every Expert battle shares four tasks. You must win without Pokémon ex, win without Stadiums, and win with 12 or more Dual Fusion cards. You must also win without letting your opponent score. Each battle then adds one mono-type task.
| Expert Opponent | Opponent’s Type | Your Mono-Type Task |
| Alolan Exeggutor ex | Grass | Darkness Pokémon only |
| Mega Greninja ex | Water | Fire Pokémon only |
| Pikachu ex | Lightning | Water Pokémon only |
| Mega Mewtwo X ex | Psychic | Fighting Pokémon only |
| Mega Tyranitar ex | Darkness | Psychic Pokémon only |
| Giratina ex | Dragon | Colorless Pokémon only |
Three of these tasks push you into a type that usually struggles in the matchup. That means Fire into Water, Water into Lightning, and Psychic into Darkness. Tackle those in dedicated runs rather than forcing every task into one deck.

Advanced Battles
The three Advanced battles feature Fuecoco ex, Pikachu ex, and Mega Mewtwo X ex. Their tasks ask you to:
- Knock out the opponent’s Active Pokémon once with a specific type. That’s Water against Fuecoco ex, Fighting against Pikachu ex, and Darkness against Mewtwo.
- Win with at least one Mega Evolution Pokémon ex in your deck.
- Deal 100 or more damage with a single attack.
- Win with six or more Dual Fusion cards in your deck.
Mega Greninja ex and Mega Mewtwo X ex can tick three of those boxes in a single run. Both are Dual Fusion Megas, and both hit for 100 base damage.
Pokemon TCG Pocket Dual Fusion Events and Rental Decks

In Conclusion
Pokémon TCG Pocket Dual Fusion matters for more than its pretty Mewtwo art. Dual types widen your Weakness coverage and your support options, yet you still pay with one Energy type. Mega Mewtwo X ex, Pikachu ex, and Mega Greninja ex form a clean counter loop. Every deck you build should plan for the card that beats it.
Once your core cards land, our Pokémon TCG Pocket deck-building guide helps you tune a sharper 20-card list. Then mark November 5 for the Emblem Event, which is your first real test of the new set.
