Monster Strike is a top-grossing mobile game in Japan where it earns millions of USD daily. However, its China publisher Tencent Games (country’s biggest gaming company) chose to shut down the local version back in August 2015, citing “changes to the developer’s business strategy.” However, most gamers in online communities agreed that Monster Strike did not gain traction with the China gamers, hence it failed in less than a year.
However, Japanese developer Mixi disagree with industry opinions, and is determined to relaunch Monster Strike in China. It was recently made public an office has been opened in Beijing under the name XFlag (also the name of Mixi’s core Japanese development team). The official website for XFlag Beijing is now up and running, with an aim to introduce Monster Strike again to China later this year. I doubt it will last very long though…
