According to several reports from the Chinese gaming media, WildStar is heading to China, with the publisher being Giant Interactive. This was disclosed in an interview with the developer and publisher’s president, Mr Xuefeng Ji, who said that WildStar is slated for late 2015 or early 2016. Do note that there is no “official” confirmation at this time, just text articles from several websites.
Giant Interactive is not a big player overseas, but it is still a major force in China. Other than several self-developed Asian-themed online games, Giant Interactive also publishes Elsword China (Korea developer) and Allods Online China (Russia developer). With all its games being Free-to-Play, does this mean that Carbine is actually working on a business model transition? We shall soon find out.
