Transformers: Eternal War is currently in soft launch and is available only in select regions, including Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and the Philippines. The game is scheduled for a global release in September 2026, and players who pre-register can already claim several rewards, including the Transformers: The Movie 40th Anniversary Avatar Frame & Nameplate.
We’ve spent some time with the soft-launch version to see what the game has to offer. Here’s what you can expect from Transformers: Eternal War, along with some beginner tips to help you get started.
Transformers: Eternal War Overview & What to Expect
Transformers: Eternal War is developed by Wanda Cinemas, whose portfolio includes games based on several major IPs, including JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure.
The game combines strategy and RPG mechanics, while its story is written by Simon Furman, one of the most influential writers in Transformers comic-book history. That gives the narrative plenty of reason to be optimistic about. The game essentially offers:
- Core Mechanics: A squad-based gacha RPG where you build a team of five bots and use them in real-time tactical battles.
- United Factions: Autobots and Decepticons are no longer fighting each other. Instead, they have joined forces against the Legion of Chaos, a dark, corrupted enemy from another dimension.

- Base Mechanics: You can build and expand your own base, which serves as an important part of your overall progression. Regularly developing your base is essential for strengthening your squad.
- Class & Trait Systems: Currently, the game features 5 classes (Vanguard, Assault, Firepower, Recon, Support) and 5 traits (Fearless, Dynamic, Resourceful, Resolute, Inspiring). Combining the right classes and traits can create powerful team synergies.
- Gacha Mechanics: The gacha system appears relatively F2P-friendly in the current soft-launch version. A “Wish List” lets you target specific Transformers, while the summoning system guarantees Mythic bots under certain conditions. Duplicate summons can also be used to strengthen existing bots.
Transformers: Eternal War is scheduled for global release on September 15, 2026.
Transformers: Eternal War Beginner Tips
Based on the current soft-launch meta, these are some of the strongest trait/bot combinations to target:
| TRAIT | BOTS |
| Fearless | Optimus Prime, Skywarp, Dead End |
| Dynamic | Ratchet, Jazz, Bumblebee |
| Resourceful | Soundwave, Thundercracker |
| Resolute | Snarl, Hound |
These combinations are unlikely to change dramatically by global launch, although the meta could shift with balance changes or new bots. If you can target these synergies early through the gacha system, they can provide a strong foundation for your first team.
Speaking of the gacha system, we strongly recommend taking advantage of the “recycle” events. These events refund part of your summoning currency after you reach certain summon milestones. For example, completing 150 summons can reward 25 additional free summons. This means you should avoid spending your currency before a Recycle event begins. Ideally, save enough for 300 summons, which could give you another 50 free summons.

Mythic bots are naturally among the strongest units in the game, but you don’t need them to make progress. You can reach the end game using lower-rarity bots, especially during the early stages of progression. For example, First Aid, Thundercracker, Mixmaster, Wheeljack, Scrapper, and Scavenger are much easier bots to obtain and perform well throughout the early progression.
Cybercoin is the game’s premium currency, but you can also earn it without spending money, especially if you know where to look. One easy source is the Gallery: check every newly unlocked character to claim the associated Cybercoin reward. You can also earn Cybercoin from daily Helipad missions, completed Expedition maps, and Gladiator Combat events.
Don’t rush your upgrades. Resource management is especially important early on, so avoid investing heavily in every bot you unlock. Instead, choose a core team of five and concentrate your upgrade materials on them.
