Over the past week, there were quite a number of global launches in the mobile world, so we though we could take a couple days off to try them. First up is Comix Breaker, a mobile card game from Korean developer Mojito Games which previously made Hero Ball Z. Comix Breaker was a result of internal experiments, and gamers will find it rather unique not to have auto-combat and instead focus on players using the right skills cards manually. Over the course of each stage progression, players will find temporary boosters to aid them in the fight.
The Americanized-cartoon art style is a deliberate choice, with the aim of being it being more “globalized” even for non-anime fans in the western market. While the concept is cool and brings something new to the endless amount of RPG titles, in my opinion Comix Breaker will have a tough time finding a sustained audience who are just too used to certain convenience features. Nevertheless, Mojito Games is now working on Project M, an anime-style character card game. That should bring the studio back to form!
