Old-time gamers might be more familiar with the Yu Yu Hakusho franchise, which were really popular back in the 1990s’ with manga series, games, and anime. Developer KLabGames, together with AXEL GameStudio Inc, has brought the IP back to live with a mobile game titled Yu Yu Hakusho 100% Serious Battle. The pre-registration phase has just gone live in Japan. From the many colorful characters, players form a team of 5 to battle their way through.
A brief introduction to the story, Yu Yu Hakusho follows Yusuke Urameshi, a 14-year-old delinquent who, in an uncharacteristic act of altruism, is hit by a car and killed in an attempt to save a young boy by pushing him out of the way. His ghost is greeted by Botan, a woman who ferries souls to the “Underworld” or Spirit World (้็ Reikai). Botan informs Yusuke that there was not yet a place made for him in either heaven or hell. Thus Koenma, son of the Underworld’s ruler King Enma, offers Yusuke a chance to revive through a series of tests.
