Chinese studio ZQGame recently started the technical test phase for its latest MMORPG, Legend of the Ring, in mainland China. While nothing seems amiss, the studio is claiming the game to be based on The Lord of the Rings movie series, and even boast content from Harry Potter and Thor. Maps such as Modor, Hogwarts, and even The Dark World can be found, modelled after those in the movies.
Legend of the Ring boasts to have a unique ring system, where the various Rings of Power can be obtained and upgraded. There is also a “1000-man” public raid dungeons, along with the famous auto-play (attack and pot) system. Since there are no exact similarities with the actual The Lord of the Rings Online, hopefully something can be done with the establishment of IP courts in China.
