Dragon Nest 2 – CEO confirms sequel in early development stage

According to a Senior Vice President of Shanda Games, Donghai Qian, the sequel for Dragon Nest is currently in its early development stage. Speaking to reporters at the 17173.com awards event in China, he mentioned that Dragon Nest 2 will not be “cartoony”, while retaining its 3D graphics.

He also said that Dragon Nest 2 will move on to a full open-world design, and expects it to be in development for at least 2 more years before anything can be presented. Thanks to Mariusz Madejczyk for the tip.

Developer Eyedentity Games was bought over by China company Shanda Games a few years back, and is working on Dungeon Striker and Dragon Nest: Labyrinth.

  1. So in other words, they’re pulling a Mabinogi.
    I’m not impressed, but it makes sense if they want to keep the original game around. Making the same game, but with better graphics and new features, would eat into Dragon Nest’s income stream.
