Following the announcements of Tencent signing PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and H1Z1 for the local China market, it was revealed today that the internet giant has obtained the rights to publish Fortnite as well. This should not come as a surprise, seeing that Tencent is the biggest shareholder of developer Epic Games, which is also the maker of Unreal Engine. Nothing was mentioned about the paid version of Fortnite during the stage announcement.
While there is no launch date yet, Tencent has revealed several bonus goodies. First, for players who pre-register, they will obtain a modern glider. Next, for those who invite 3 friends to pre-register, they will be gifted a special falling effect (that is a thing?). Finally, players who migrate back to the China server will not only retain all cosmetics (costumes, parachutes, falling effects, tools, etc), but receive an “exclusive” themed costume as well.
