NCsoft recently announced WildStar, the first online game from Carbine Studios, is heading to China. The publisher was revealed as Giant Interactive, and the first beta will begin this August. Localization of the game is near its end, which means the deal was signed quite some time ago. Giant Interactive claimed WildStar is one of the company’s “biggest game” in the past decade.
According to the official press release, there are over four million Chinese characters translated, and the localization aim was to make sure China gamers will feel at home with WildStar. In all honesty, sci-fi online games have no stellar records in Asia, with the exception of StarCraft, so it remains to be seen if the China gamers take the bait. More details will be revealed at a later date.
