Back in early 2020, I happened to come across a new anime-style mecha RPG mobile game which launched in Taiwan under publisher Komoe Game. The game is a fine mixture of both mecha and waifu characters, which really got me hooked for weeks (yes I whaled a little on gacha). But I eventually stopped when I got wind of a global version in the works. And the time is now, as the global pre-registration for Final Gear started a few weeks back!
Personally, I would rate Final Gear as probably the best indie anime game I have played from a Chinese developer. It is not just about the waifu characters, but how players can customize their mechas with thousands of different parts and being displayed visually with each change. There is certainly a money-sucking scheme here, with some pilots pairing much better with a mecha model, but perfection in gacha mobile games these days are literally just for whales.
Players form teams of 4 mechas for missions, and these machines come in a variety similar to those in RPG titles, such as tank, support, DPS, etc. As mentioned, players can customize them with minimal restrictions. Final Gear’s art designs, visuals, animations, etc are all top-notch in my opinion, and I cannot find any issues to complain about (yes I have mellowed after all these years). I implore everyone who is an anime fan, a mecha fan, a waifu fan to pre-register for Final Gear. You will not be disappointed (hopefully).
