The9, the China-based online gaming company which saved Red 5 Studios from closing down years back, just revealed that it recorded a whopping $45,700,000 USD loss for 2nd half 2012.
The company still has its rich owner as backup, and is looking at 3 games launching this year for a turnaround. First, Firefall will be launching on 9th July, with PlanetSide 2 China to hold its biggest beta test ever in June, and finally its self-developed MU2 on 28th September.
Over 40 million USD seems like a pretty big sum to me, although I am not sure of the company’s finances. In terms of revenue earned, The9 is hovering near the 10th spot in China, possibly even lower now since it hasn’t launched any significant titles for quite some time.
