We have previously covered most details for Night Crows, such as the MMORPG taking place in medieval Europe and powered by Unreal Engine 5 from veteran folks who built Nexon’s V4 and HIT action RPG titles. Publisher and financier Wemade recently held a press conference to talk more about Night Crows’ launch in Korea this coming April, and here are some of the key details (minus all the horrible marketing jargons).
• This is the first time in a decade where Wemade held a press conference for a game launch.
• While it is true that Unreal Engine 5 is still not 100% stable yet, the official developer version is enough for the team to utilize it.
• Hyper-realistic directing of light sources and unrivaled graphics to bring medieval Europe to life (including all the chaos and mood) is one of the key pillars.
• Starting with 4 base classes and then further branching out in 8 more, characters can then specialize more into unique builds.
• Unrealistic combat speed and excessively flashy skill animations were eliminated to provide players with more “realistic” action in both PVE and PVP.
• Gliding from elevated locations onto the battlefield is a key component during massive PVP wars, with unique skills and strategies attached. There is no aerial combat.
• Gliders are currently tied to players spending time and farming materials to craft them and not sold using real cash.
• However, parts related to gliders (not mentioned specifically) can be obtained from gacha draws.
• 1,000 players on the same battlefield are currently touted for PVP.
• Night Crows support “unrestricted” 1:1 player trading.
• It was mentioned previously that a blockchain version of Night Crows would launch later in 2023 in South Korea. There is no confirmation yet, but if the Korean version is successful, the global version of Night Crows would likely launch on WEMIX (or WEMIX Play). A version for China service is also in the works.
• While Night Crows is running on both PC and mobile platforms, there are currently no plans for it to launch on Steam.
• Overall, the development of Night Crows took over 2 years with 110 employees working on it.
• Developer MADNGINE is not a subsidiary of WEMADE.
