Following the teaser last week, Nexon today has revealed the first full trailer for its new massive PVP online RPG, Wars of Prasia, at the annual Nexon Developers Conference (NDC). In the lecture notes, Nexon highlighted that PVP, mainly massive siege battles, attract only a small fraction of domestic Korean gamers mostly due to the high device specs required for this feature to enjoy it properly. Wars of Prasia aims to break this barrier and to popularize the siege content.
The core concept of siege PVP in Wars of Prasia is also for guilds to occupy castle bases, where the winning guild can set taxes and gain passive benefits, similar to most games’ guild PVP feature. Nexon touted that the unique points in War of Parsia include an always-on 24 hours siege PVP battle, even in supposed safe areas where potions are being sold. Nexon claims that having fixed timings for siege PVP in other MMORPG titles is detrimental and difficult for guilds to come up with strategies, which in the end rely on just pure numbers for victory.
With this always-on siege PVP it is possible for guilds to launch sudden attacks when the castle owner is doing other guild PVE content in the same map, or divert the castle owner’s resources to other locations via trickery tactics.
Wars of Prasia has also implemented a limited collision system. While characters still pass through each other, some skills will physically block characters from passing, such as a tank class’ shield blocking skill. This can be part of a guild’s strategy to block narrow paths or bridge/ base entrances. Moreover, projectiles and ranged skills seems to be blockable as well.
Other elements include guardian beasts and siege weapons, and a focus of transportation via mounts rather than teleportation points. This system is to prevent any guilds from monopolizing any areas around a fixed teleportation point on a massive PVP siege map. That is all for now, stay tuned for more updates!
