Publisher VNGGames launched the mobile wuxia MMORPG 剑侠情缘R in Singapore and Malaysia last week, and today we are having a casual talk about the game’s theme song, 画地为牢. First published in 1997, the classical orient song was originally sung by 羽.泉, with the lyrics written by 翟廷雅 and the music composed by 罗晓音. The latter duo are somewhat legends in the gaming music industry in China, having work on many songs for popular games including the wuxia titles under 剑侠情缘R developer Seasun.
For 剑侠情缘R, “画地为牢” is positioned as the game’s theme song, depicting a tragic love story in the world of wuxia. Publisher VNGGames have invited 3 popular singers and online stars to record versions of it based on their unique voices and interpretations. Arguably the main version is performed by 韓曉噯 Hanxiiaoaii, having around 900,000 fans and followers on Facebook and Instagram. The other 2 variations are sung by Priscilla Abby 蔡恩雨 and a duet with Haoren 朱浩仁. Enjoy!
