When gamers think about JRPG these days, perhaps franchises like Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest comes to mind immediately. Back in the late 80s to early 2000s, there was also one JRPG which was immensely popular as well, Ys. So far, IP owner Nihon Falcom has launched at least 10 core games, with several other spin-offs as well. Today, we are looking at Ys VI The Ark of Napishtim, the mobile MMORPG which is based on the PlayStation 2 game with the same name.
Ys VI The Ark of Napishtim features many of the general features expected of a MMORPG, including 4 classes, class advancements, PVE raids, PVP battles, guild systems, and obviously, the dreaded gacha. The main feature of the game, in my opinion, is the story itself. Also, I was so intrigued with the game having a Pirate class, I just absolutely have to play it. The Ys franchise might not be strong enough for the game to see a western launch though, but stay tuned!
