Over the years, China’s number 2 games company NetEase is known for being the “king of copycats,” and that title does come with lots of admiration from developers in the industry. With Project M, NetEase might have once again outdone their previous records. Project M is described as a Free-to-Play 5 vs 5 first person shooter (FPS) set in a near sci-fi future, where all playable characters have his or her own unique abilities other than weapons.
If you did not already saw through the disguise, Project M is the mobile equivalent of Riot Games’ Valorant, which also has a mobile version in development. I am not sure how to analyze Project M properly right now since it was just announced, but I do smell a potential lawsuit incoming. Also, there is no word on which region Closed Beta is currently ongoing on Google Play, but it is most likely the usual suspects of Philippines, Canada, or Australia.
