Shining Maiden might seem to be a Japanese-made mobile RPG at first glance, but it is actually the maiden title (pun intended) from Korean developer Big Dipper. The soft-launch phase started recently, and we dived in for a quick look. With a focus on female characters, Shining Maiden is a waifu-collection gacha RPG centering around 5 different factions, with the player being the male “anomaly.”
The combat in Shining Maiden uses skills cards to attack or cast spells, and players are only given 4 slots each round. However, merging 2 similar skill cards for better effects/ damage takes up 1 slot, which can be quite annoying as players should not be “punished” by drawing similar cards. Even with 2x activated, the overall game felt slow and there is a certain lack of excitement. There is no date yet for Shining Maiden’s official launch, so stay tuned!
