Smilegate today announced that it has signed a partnership deal with Sony Pictures Entertainment for a film based on its popular online military FPS, CrossFire. Tencent Pictures from China is co-producing and investing in this CrossFire film project. If you did not know, CrossFire is shutting down in its domestic market of South Korea, but enjoys tremendous success in China (one of the top profitable game there) and some degree of popularity worldwide. The man leading the CrossFire film is Neal H. Moritz, who was behind hits such as the Fast & Furious films and the classic I Know What You Did Last Summer.
