Blade & Soul Mobile launched in China for Android devices yesterday, and I managed to give it a try through the prologue and tutorial stages. Basically, players collect character cards, upgrade them, and use them in battles. Normal combat is automated, while skills and combos skills are activated manually. There is also a handy formation guide on which characters to use for maximum power.
Being a paying Tencent “Super” member, I got a bonus character in the form of Namsoyoo. Originally prepared to be impressed, Blade & Soul Mobile turned out to be just another generic Asian cash milker. Not that I am looking for something innovative, but it does not do any justice to the popularity of Blade & Soul. I will continue to play the game, and hopefully seek out some bright spots.
