X-Legend, the Taiwanese developer behind the popular Fantasy Frontier (or Aura Kingdom), recently announced 2 new client games and 5 new mobile games for the local market in 2014. This announcement caused a mini-uproar, as gamer demand to know the future of Fantasy Frontier.
The studio has replied, stating that there are 4 major content updates scheduled for Fantasy Frontier, and a 100-strong team dedicated to the game and still hiring as well, hence resources will not be a problem. The core focus is also on creating more content for levels 55 to 65 rather than 70.
Another main update will see all legacy weapons get their own unique combat feature, with the new Blade Gauntlet (Katar), War Bow and the upcoming Tachi already having theirs. Please note that the new abilities below are loosely translated, and will most likely change during localization.
Dual Daggers (Speed Somersault) – New skill to dodge all incoming attacks by rolling.
Sword and Shield (Absolute Defence) – Block a straight line damage, taking reduced damage while protecting players behind him. Players protected will not receive any damage.
2-handed Axe (Raging Fury) – Rage meter builds up with each cast of skill, making each damage even higher. When the Rage meter reaches maximum, the character will deal damage to surrounding enemies over time. (I think it is until the meter runs dry)
2-handed Staff (Elemental Explosion) – Whenever a spell is cast, player will receive an elemental rune of either wind, fire, lightning or water. When 1 of the runes reaches maximum capacity, player will receive that element’s damage increase and also a bonus buff. (Most likely temporary)
Dual Pistol (Magic Reload) – Pistols will automatically reload a magic bullet within a duration. Each magic bullet will have different effects, hence players can pair it with a skill for maximum effect.
Cannon (Super Transformation) – Turret and Healing Crystal will each have new transformation options. The Turret can be configured to deal straight line damage or a machine gun spraying bullets. Healing Crystal can be configured to either give players a buff, or aid in debuffing negative effects.
Magic Book (Void Curse) – Player gains Void energy by casting spells. Once the maximum is reached, the Void energy will become a random skill. These skills will have special effects and will be very powerful.
Harp (Absolute Harmony) – Attacking will add a point of “Harmonic Note” and minus a point of “High Pitch Note”. Healing will add a point of “High Pitch Note” and minus a point of “Harmonic Note”. There is a maximum of 3 points for each. “Harmonic Note” will increase healing effects, while “High Pitch Note” will increase skill damage.
