[Source] According to an article over at Game Front, citing an internal email from Red 5 Studios, CEO and founder Mark Kern has reportedly been voted out of the company. More recently in September, 10% of the workforce was laid off in a “pre-launch reorganization“.
According to The Escapist via an “insider”, “Kern hasn’t been to Red 5’s offices in weeks, and when he does visit, he did nothing but “randomly make decisions that nobody [could] counter.” It also said that within the company, “horizontal Structure does not allow for decision making” and “getting things done is nearly impossible”.
This does not bode well for Firefall, the studio’s first online title. Its parent company, China-based The9, is also bleeding cash as it reported US$45.9 million of net loss attributable to holders of ordinary shares. The9 brushed it off as “ongoing investments”.
