[Steam page] Once known as Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age when announced back at E3 2014, developer Crytek has since run into all sorts of financial troubles. Amazingly, the game survived, renamed as Hunt: Showdown, and entered the Early Access phase on Steam recently. Rather than a core 4-player co-op PVE gameplay mode, Hunt now focuses on competitive, match-based gameplay mixing both PVE and PVP elements. Horrified yet?
At the beginning of each match, up to five teams of two set out to track monstrous targets. Once a team has found and defeated one of these monsters, they will receive a bounty and instantly become a target for every other hunter left on the map. The higher the risk, the higher the reward, but a single mistake could cost everything. Powered by Crytek’s very own CryEngine, Early Access to Hunt: Showdown costs USD 29.99. Are you ready to hunt?
