V Project Becomes StarToU with Core Gameplay and 2026 CBT Plans

V Project has a new name and a much clearer identity. Developer V Studio and publisher Elementa have renamed the upcoming 3D idol mobile game StarToU, while the latest preview shows how its story, fan interactions, and stage performances connect.

The announcement also introduces the hip-hop group MacGuffin and confirms a closed beta test for select regions during the second half of 2026.

Here is what prospective players can expect on Android and iOS.

Why V Project Is Now Called StarToU

The new name refers to the entertainment community platform that players use inside the game. Once logged in, you take the role of a fan within this space, so the title directly connects to the way you meet and support its idols.

StarToU keeps the original project’s focus on emotional connection, 3D characters, and a multi-perspective story. Its Cel-Shaded Plus art direction combines expressive anime-style character models with realistic environments, detailed lighting, and modern fashion. This presentation helps everyday scenes and live performances feel like parts of the same idol career.

StarToU Gameplay Mixes Stories, Social Features, and Rhythm Stages

TOUCH serves as the foundation for StarToU’s main systems. Echo uses this fictional memory-recreation technology to let you revisit fragments of each idol’s past, while branching narratives show group events and personal character arcs from several viewpoints.

Star Journey acts as a personal archive for the stories, songs, cards, and event records you collect. TOKI then brings the cast closer through an in-game social feed with daily posts, voice chats, and livestreams. Together, these features frame the idols as characters whose lives continue between major story chapters.

Music takes over in Starlit Stage. During Showtime, you support the performance by hitting rhythm notes as the 3D choreography and music video unfold. Before each show, you can select the lineup, choose outfits, and equip Moment cards, which gives each stage some room for personal direction.

The official StarToU X account also shared a user login guide that shows the Home Screen, Echo, TOKI, and Starlit Stage. It offers a compact look at how these systems open inside the platform.

MacGuffin Brings a Rebellious Edge to the Idol Roster

The rename arrived alongside MacGuffin, a self-producing four-member group from Rhythm Rebellion Label. Tay, Yoora, Lim, and Noki combine hip-hop and street culture with a “fun x rebellion” concept, so their styling and attitude carry a mature edge.

Their first promotional video also hints at tension within the group through an argument and talk of disbanding again. That conflict gives the story an immediate hook, while trainees Lee, Near, and OCT bring a lighter energy elsewhere in the roster. Elementa plans to introduce more groups later, which should expand the range of stories and musical styles.

When Will the StarToU Closed Beta Begin?

Elementa plans to hold a StarToU CBT in select regions during the second half of 2026. Sequential global tests will follow, although the countries, exact dates, and access rules for the wider CBT remain unconfirmed.

A separate small-scale technical test is moving forward in China. Recruitment opened on August 20 for Android users, and a September 6 official update still described applications as open. The test will wipe progress and disable purchases. No start date or recruitment deadline has been posted, so an application does not guarantee immediate access.

The regional CBT will be the next major chance to see how smoothly StarToU’s story and performance systems work together. Interested players can pre-register through the official website and follow the game’s social channels for eligibility details. A full Android and iOS release date has yet to be announced.
