Genshin Impact Version 7.0 is almost here, skipping the expected Version 6.8 update altogether. The new 7.x update cycle is expected to run until August 2027, and recent leaks have sparked more speculation than ever among the community. Here’s everything we know so far, and what players expect from the upcoming update.
As always, remember that none of the information below has been officially confirmed by HoYoverse. While many recent leaks have proven reliable, details may change before Version 7.0 launches.
What We Know About Genshin Impact Version 7.0
According to current information, Genshin Impact Version 7.0 is scheduled to launch on August 12, 2026. Here’s what leaks suggest players can expect:
- Version 7.x will focus on Snezhnaya, the final major nation in Teyvat. It’s the frozen homeland of the Cryo Archon and the Fatui.
- New playable characters will be added. We already know two of them: Odette (5-star) and Alyosha (4-star). Odette uses a Cryo sword, while Alyosha is designed as a support unit and uses an Electro polearm.
- Several character reruns are also expected, including Arlecchino. Ineffa and Flynn are rumored to return as well.
- The Traveler will finally be able to unlock the Cryo element. This has been a long-awaited upgrade.
- A “mobile base train” will be added to the game to reduce fast-traveling. We will be able to use this for both resting and crafting.

As expected, Snezhnaya features icy landscapes and snow-covered environments. Leaks also suggest several new traversal mechanics, including ice rails and launch pads to make exploration faster and more enjoyable.
Current estimates suggest players will be able to earn between 14,000 and 15,000 Primogems throughout the Version 7.0 cycle by completing quests, exploring new areas, and participating in events. That would be enough for more than 80 pulls, although the final total may vary.
Debates About Genshin Impact Version 7x
One of the biggest talking points among players is the unusually small number of new 5-star characters. According to current leaks, Version 7.0 will introduce only a single new 5-star unit, marking a major shift toward a one-premium-character release model.
Many players find this surprising, especially since Snezhnaya is one of the largest and most anticipated regions in the game. Others have also pointed out that the rumored rerun schedule doesn’t align well with the Abyss buffs. However, the banner order could still change before launch, so it’s a bit early for these discussions.
What Do We Know About the New Genshin Impact Version 7x Units?
Odette is expected to be a Crit DMG-focused DPS known in the lore as the “Prima Ballerina.” According to leaks, she can both trigger and buff Stellar-Conduct and Stellar-Swirl. Her gameplay revolves around deployable Cryo turrets: the first activation deals Cryo damage, while the second unleashes a powerful Stellar burst.
| ROLE | DPS |
| BURST | Summons turret, deals Stellar burst damage |
| PASSIVE | Boosts Stellar damage (up to 60%) of the entire team |

Alyosha is expected to be a free unit whose kit revolves around marking enemies to increase the damage they take. She can also provide an ATK buff for the entire party. Leaks suggest she pairs exceptionally well with Odette and Sandrone, making her an early contender for one of Version 7’s strongest support characters:
| ROLE | Support |
| MARK | Applies a mark to enemies and triggers an ATK buff (for the entire team) |
| BURST | Summons her wolf to deal additional damage and heal the team |
