Smilegate today announced that it has signed a contract with publisher HappyTuk to launch Lost Ark in the region of Taiwan (including Hong Kong and Macau). After successes in South Korea and Japan, Taiwan is seen as the next major Asian market as Tencent is having issues to register the game in China. HappyTuk, owning the Mangot5 platform in the region, is considered one of the biggest game publishers there.
While HappyTuk has launched various mobile games, it has not found much success as compared to its PC roots, with games such as TERA, Yulgang, AIKA, and many more. There is currently no launch schedule for the Taiwan server. If you did not know, the North America and Europe server of Lost Ark, under Amazon Games, is announced for launch in fall 2021. Other regions, such as Southeast Asia, will be IP blocked.
