In case you missed the new previously, developer Gearbox Software and publisher 2K are taking the server of Battleborn offline on 25 January 2021. This includes both the single-player and multiplayer modes of the game, rendering the game inaccessible from then on. If you have yet to try out Battleborn, it can apparently still be downloaded via Steam. Gearbox Software has always maintained that the game’s demise was not due to Overwatch launching around the same time, but I guess we all know the right answer.
It is also a pity that the single-player mode got caught up in the closure, as many people worked hard on the story campaign. In this modern age, players don’t truly own their games anymore even if they forked out for the initial purchase and subsequent cash shop items. There are still Battleborn fans out there hoping to salvage something, so perhaps an unofficial server might just pop out somewhere. Stay tuned.
