Founded in November last year, South Korean game developer startup Shine Games announced it has received an investment from venture capital firm Laguna Investment and YG Investment, the investment arm of the South Korean music label and entertainment agency YG group. The financial amount, terms and details, are currently all unspecified.
Formed by the core team which developed Blade under Action Square, Shine Games is solely focused on building esports mobile games. It calls itself a “Mobile E-Sports Game Dev Company” on its website. According to the local media, Shine Games’ CEO said that “to survive in the market for mobile games, linking with E-Sports will no longer be an option, but an essential trend.” Representatives from Laguna Investment and YG Investment both mentioned they are satisfied with the prototype and the esports market.
