Following reports that Daybreak Game is working on a battle royale game based on its PlanetSide IP, it was revealed by former CEO John Smedley yesterday that the studio has laid off around “70 employees”. Jobs were made redundant throughout all departments, though Daybreak did not confirm the numbers. This is the 2nd layoff since April and ought to sting with Christmas being so near. A possible reason is due to the failure of H1Z1, as Daybreak Games coldly claimed it looks “to improve efficiencies and realign resources”.
