World of Warcraft – Player sentenced to a year of federal jail over DDOS attack

BBC News recently reported about a player of World of Warcraft being sentenced to a year of federal jail for launching a DDOS attack on the game’s server 8 years ago. Calin Mateias, who has since been found guilty, had been accused of flooding Blizzard Entertainment’s computer servers with traffic between February and September 2010. Then 30 years old, Calin Mateias confessed the attack was to prevent his rivals from logging into World of Warcraft. The Romanian citizen had been extradited to Los Angeles to face the charges.
